Everything was fine, good breakfast that I paid 20 Euros daily for. But the hotel was out of the way, far from the historic center, no markets or cafeteria around to drink an espresso. The one from the machine was terrible.

I definitely expected better...

I have stayed several times at this hotel chain, but in particular, it was my first time at the Porto hotel.
The hotel's location is advantageous, as it is very close to the Carolina Michaelis metro station. But the strong points (which I also include the breakfast, quite good overall and international) end here.
In fact, my room (which was a double, even though I was alone) was a bit dirty here and there, especially on the bed, but also in the bathroom.
The bathroom was good, even though the space was a bit tight for towels, the toilet, and the shower. The TV (which I wasn't really very interested in, though) had some problems because the buttons didn't press easily, but I didn't care much about that.
My room (505) was on the fifth floor and was equipped with a minibar/fridge, although the water bottles I put inside didn't get cold (which is very strange...).
The hotel staff is friendly, professional, and helpful; the price is not very high, but it is not proportional to the services offered.
Choose another hotel if you are staying in Porto.

Rooms were clean, service was good. BUT there was no AC in the room -and there was a very unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom drain. It said on the website that there was AC available but only the hotel can control it and they put the same temperature for all the room. It was really hard to sleep because of the heatwave and the window barely opens (only opens 90 degrees). They wouldn’t put the AC colder.
And if you look at reviews from 7 months ago, they had the same drain smell. So this issue has been ongoing for a while now.

Property new and modern was about the best I can say...
Metro 6-7 minute walk away and only 2 stops to the centre of shopping area, further to river. Make sure you have euros for the ticket machine as often card payment not working. Nowhere to eat/drink nearby without taking your walking shoes and the Metro closes at 7pm however taxis are very reasonably priced at around 5 euros. Hotel has a vending machine although no water in it. Some staff were very efficient but on arrival we were treated more as an inconvenience than a welcome. I actually booked 2 rooms, the one on the second floor was fine but the smell from the shower drain on the 6th floor was horrendous. There appears to be building work happening and on the last day I experienced 3 fire alarms and smoke coming out of said drain - I assume some kind of testing but I received no warning.
