Surfhouse

Surfhouse Encinitas absolutely nailed it. The location is perfect—just a short stroll to the beach, with the relaxed surf-town vibe that makes Encinitas so special. The whole place has a cool, laid-back beach feel that instantly puts you into holiday mode.
Communication was outstanding from start to finish, with quick, friendly updates via text that made everything effortless. We also loved the great coffee shop right across the road, and the local recommendations were spot on—they really helped us experience the best of the area.
A fantastic stay all around. We already can’t wait to come back!

Great Boutique Concept, But Unreliable Wi-Fi and Lockout Issues Are Deal-Breakers
I wanted to absolutely love this place. The streamlined, unstaffed concept at Surfhouse is fantastic if you value privacy. Without a traditional front desk, there is none of the usual hustle and bustle, making the property feel incredibly quiet and exclusive.
My room (#8) was immaculate, updated, and remarkably well-insulated from street noise. The bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, and the linens were high quality. As a bonus, parking is easy, and great food options are steps outside of your room. A quick heads-up for light sleepers: the property is right by the train tracks. Surfhouse thoughtfully provides a white noise machine, and since I wake up early and actually enjoy the sound of trains, it didn’t bother me—but it could surprise some guests.
Unfortunately, two major operational issues ruined the experience:
Maddening Wi-Fi & TV: I was dealing with an injury and forced to spend more time in the room than planned. The Wi-Fi was so weak and unreliable that the TV paused every three seconds. For the price charged, reliable internet is a basic necessity.
Early Lockout: I easily requested and was granted a late check-out the night before. However, someone forgot to update the system, and my door code stopped working an hour before check-out. Because there is no staff on-site, a mistake like this is dangerous. If I hadn’t had my phone on me, I would have been completely stranded outside with all of my belongings trapped inside. Tip for future guests: Never step out of your room without your phone.
Surfhouse has so much potential. If Surfhouse would upgrade their internet, and ensure guests cannot get "locked out", this could easily be a 5-star stay.

Super cute boutique hotel!
This is our 2nd time staying at Surfhouse and we love it! The place was super cute and had a nice beach surfer vibe. We could walk to coffee shops, breweries, wine bars, restaurants, and the beach. They also give discounts at places for staying at Surfhouse. The bunkhouse room is perfect for a family, each bunk had an outlet and a little cubby to put your phone/earbuds etc/ and a small reading light! I highly recommend staying here when in town!

Four night stay, what a pleasure!
If you’re thinking of visiting Encinitas, you should seriously consider staying the Surfhouse Boutique Hotel. My wife and I stayed here for four nights and we had the most amazing time and we were extremely sad to leave. The room was perfect, with a very comfortable bed, a mini fridge and a big walk-in shower with plenty of hot water after a surf in the cold winter water. Fresh towels are provided each day and housekeeping do a fantastic job. The owner/manager Nikki is an absolute legend and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He took me surfing twice and even let me use his boards and a wetsuit. I had a fantastic time listening to him and all his local knowledge about the surf and general information of the area. He also took me to a few great surf breaks which I would never have found on my own. The Surfhouse is only a three minute walk to Beacons Beach which is a nice place to surf for those looking for a mellow kinda wave. Also there are plenty of great places to eat within a few minutes walk from the Surfhouse. The rates are completely reasonable and you can bet your bottom dollar we will be back there again sometime for another four nights. Thank you Nikki and thank you Surfhouse for making our stay so memorable.

Awesome!
This place is great! Clean and convenient, and right down the street from Beacons beach. It provides all the surf/SD frills with the bikes, wetsuits, and boards as well as that local discount card! Thanks so much guys for creating and providing such a wonderful vacation spot.
