Luxury resort with stunning views, amazing food, beautiful rooms & exceptional staff — our best all-inclusive yet!
Starting with the hotel itself — the style and aesthetic are absolutely stunning. Everything is clean, chic, modern, elegant and luxurious-looking. The décor, colour scheme and overall finish throughout the resort are incredibly well done and give the whole place a really high-end feel.
The hotel is around a 30-minute drive from Heraklion International Airport and is set in quite a secluded location. Personally, this didn’t bother us at all as we never really felt the need to leave the resort, apart from meeting friends in Bali one evening which was about a 30-minute taxi ride away. One thing to note is that the hotel is built high up in the hills, so the drive involves a lot of winding roads which, as a nervous passenger, I didn’t particularly enjoy! Also, because the resort is built into the hillside, there are quite a lot of steps around the property, but again this wasn’t an issue for us as we enjoy walking.
We stayed in the Casa Swim Up Sunset View Room and it was honestly the best hotel room we’ve ever stayed in. The setup is incredible — at the front of the room you have direct access to the swim-up pool, and at the back you have a balcony overlooking the Aegean Sea with stunning sunset views. The room itself was modern, spacious and very well laid out. We loved the double sinks and all the amenities provided including the fridge, daily replenished water, coffee machine, safe, wardrobe space and shower (the only thing missing was an iron). Each Casa Swim Up room also has its own private cabana facing the sea, which made the whole experience feel even more luxurious and relaxing. The pool was quite cold in May, but we didn’t mind and still really enjoyed spending time there as it was so relaxing.
The main pool we used most was the Pelagos Pool, which again was lovely. There were always sunbeds available throughout the day, both shaded and unshaded, and the atmosphere was really relaxed. The pool bar offered drinks and snacks, and we especially enjoyed the snack bar there — we had crêpes, waffles, sandwiches, rolls, biscuits and cakes which were perfect for daytime snacks.
Now onto the food — this was one of the biggest highlights of the entire holiday. The main buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner was exceptional. The quality, variety and presentation of the food were honestly beyond anything we’ve experienced at an all-inclusive resort before. One standout for us was the pizza, especially the BBQ chicken pizza at lunch which was cooked in a wood-fired oven and absolutely incredible. The desserts were also exceptional, which isn’t always the case at all-inclusive hotels! Every meal felt high quality and there was always something for everyone. We also overheard staff accommodating allergies and dietary requirements really well.
We visited all three à la carte restaurants (you can visit 3 included in the all inclusive price if you stay for over 7 days), and UMI was by far our favourite — absolutely incredible from start to finish. The starters were amazing and the mango dessert was delicious. Ocean and the other à la carte were both very nice too, although slightly less suited to our personal tastes. However, if you enjoy those cuisines, you would absolutely appreciate the quality and ambience.
As others have mentioned on TripAdvisor, alcoholic drinks at the à la carta restaurants come at an additional charge, although soft drinks and water are included. We didn’t mind paying 6-8 euro for a nice glass of wine with dinner.
The drinks selection around the resort was very good overall. At the Panorama Bar, Dimitri’s special cocktail was excellent. Our favourites overall were the Piña Colada and the Tropical Whisper. The beer (“Cretan Era”) was decent — not amazing but perfectly fine. The coffees were also really good, especially the iced caramel lattes around the pool.
The entertainment was good overall. Sunday was definitely the best night with a DJ and a much livelier atmosphere where people were dancing, and Monday was similar too. Most other evenings were much quieter, so this is definitely more of a relaxed, chilled resort rather than a party hotel. For us, that suited perfectly — we loved having peaceful evenings to relax, play games and talk, with just a couple of livelier nights mixed in.
Finally, the service throughout the hotel was absolutely exceptional. Every single member of staff we encountered was attentive, kind, friendly and always smiling. Special mentions go to Billy and Joanna at the Pelagos Pool Bar, Ikin, Dimitri and Dogus at the Panorama Bar, Vaso at the buffet breakfast/lunch, and Arun at the buffet dinner service. All of them were genuinely lovely people who made our stay even more memorable.
Thank you to Seaside Resort for such an amazing stay — you will definitely be seeing us again! For two people who would not normally return to the same hotel twice, that says everything.

Not a 5* All Inclusive - OK stay though with a few pros and cons
Pros
- Nice food at the buffet and restaurants, however the buffet is repetitive (as you would expect for an AI)
- Deserts are great, now these are 5* and tasty.
- The staff are friendly and polite, who do a good job to accommodate you (as best as they can), however some of the WhatsApp message can come across abrupt at times with exclamation marks (lol).
- the service was ok, but at times it felt slow, however we always got a drink in the end.
- The views are great from wherever you look out from around the hotel.
- The beach is nice, however this public and located at the bottom of the hotel and has a few good bars, which has football on (€10 for two padded sunbeds, umbrella and table - bargain and can pay by card or cash)
- the sunrise and sets are nice against the beautiful views.
Cons
- Rooms are ok, however the finishings are poor (such as unfinished skirting) and are not cleaned very well on the balcony areas (I.e. balcony glass and floor not cleaned). We had a sunset room with a shared pool, however we decided in the end the upgrade wasn’t entirely worth it, and wouldn’t opt for this again).
- Drinks are very poor (do not try the tap wine, but the buffet does provide bottled wine, which was nice) and spirit drinks seem to be watered down, plus not all premium brands are not included and additional charge applies for some drinks and alcoholic drinks in the restaurants (one bottle of wine between €35-60)
Soft drinks are not branded either and taste weak / artificial
- the hotels communal areas were not cleaned properly (I.e. dirty floors by the pool / bar area and tables not wiped down, after use)
- the location isn't great for getting out and about, so you have to either get to other towns/city by bus or taxis (taxis ranges between €12 - 40, per trip) don’t expect a walk out before or after dinner
- the overall cleanliness of the hotel is quite poor and not up to 5* standards.
- Communal shower room for late check outs was very poor - one shower! and no lock, so anyone can walk in as it’s a free for all, no structure to allocate time slots for use (They do offer late check on the rooms if available, which is either 4pm for €50 and 6pm for €100, but unfortunately our room couldn’t be kept on for either time).
Overall, would we come back again - if it was at a very good price to reflect the hotel standard ( at a 3 plus - 4*) and knowing the location/area, then yes for a week maximum this time (as we came for two weeks)
I would like to make a shout to Eleni at the buffet, she was so nice and on it! When we was without a drink, there would be another coming without even asking! A real credit to the hotel

Sense of luxury deffo damaged by bad drinks.
LONG VERSION:
Seaside achieves many of the things you expect from a 5* resort, but how much you ultimately enjoy it is dependant on your priorities.
The HIGHS:
The staff are delightful.
The view is knockout.
The walkways and planting are perfect.
The place is stylish.
It’s spotlessly clean.
It’s relaxed and peaceful.
It has more than one pool.
Good quality sun loungers.
The bedrooms are modern.
The soaps and body lotions are lovely.
The spa treatments are good.
The fresh towels are plentiful.
BUT:
For me, the problem is the all inclusive drinks. Every single time I ordered a drink the sense of luxury was punctured.
At the pool bar your drink comes in ugly white plastic cups that feel designed for a kids party. The cocktails are mostly all premixed. Most are tooth-curdlingly sweet and don’t pop with fresh flavour. Let’s face it, for some of us at a five star resort, part of the holiday fun is a bit of day drinking by the pool. But every time I ordered I was underwhelmed. (We tried several cocktail options, but none hit the mark, others were undrinkable).
Prosecco tasted cheap, and the all inclusive wine was drinkable only when chilled with enough ice to take the edge off. You’re getting the picture… the sense of luxury gets repeatedly undermined. The beer was ok and became the safe option.
The food in the main buffet, which you will eat for breakfasts, lunches and most dinners is tasty across the board. Of course, by its nature it’s casual dinning. (There’s a big fresh pizza oven that is worth indulging in!) The overall buffet selection is huge and the dessert options are truely indulgent 5* stuff.
On a 7 night stay, you can eat once at each of the three other hotel restaurants. At these, you have to buy your own alcohol. (Odd in itself maybe?). And you guessed it - the wine you pay extra for is mostly delicious. It again highlights the level of plonk you’ll be drinking the rest of the time. This better wine couldn’t be purchased outside the fancy restaurants, we were told.
The food in these three restaurants is generally very very good. Portions are small but it’s well executed. The sushi was a highlight. So too was a pistachio pesto.
I suppose what I’m saying is, given most of your week will be spent eating buffet food, and drinking the all inclusive alcohol, you could find it leaves your 5* experience feeling flat. Had I being staying in a cheaper hotel, at a lower star, it would certainly not have bothered me so much. But, I wasn’t. And I’m afraid it did. Repeatedly.
Obviously this all only applies if food and drink are part of your holiday priorities. For us they are.
We struggled a bit on that front at this (albeit) gorgeous looking hotel. So in short, you get what you pay for. This is at the lower end (price wise) of five star. So you’re not getting a bargain, you get what you pay for.

disappointing stay
1-we booked a loft suite with pool which looked nothing like as advertised and were moved to a better room after 2 days.
2-this was advertised as premium all inclusive it wasn't and we payed for the majority of our drinks
3-we nearly got ran over by a buggy driven by one of the staff and the result after an argument with the driver resulted in the majority of the front of house ignoring us for the rest of our stay
4-couldnt book any restaurants as we were told they were fully booked
5-we ate out most evenings because of the above
Our overall experience of this property was really poor especially because of the front of house staff attitude towards us because of the incident
