100% recommend this hotel

We loved this hotel - very friendly staff who took care of our every need. The pool was beautiful and clean, well maintained. The hotel itself was clean and well maintained also. Staff attending our room every day, changing towels, bedding every other day, and cleaning the bathroom, bedroom floor and making the beds! We felt spoilt rotten by everyone. Thankyou to the hotel's reception staff who were so helpful and kind (Mikki and Marie) and we couldn't have done without them! I can't say enough that this is a fabulous hotel and very well worth visiting.
There is a pool bar that offers snacks and cold drinks, and Marie made the most amazing ice cold Frappes - which we had most days!
The rooms had a shower over the bath bathroom; two large single beds (put together) with extremely comfy mattresses and pillows, fridge with a little freezer, large wardrobe and lots of drawers. A super efficient aircon. The balcony (recommend asking for a pool view room) was gorgeous and was in full sun in the afternoon.
Breakfast was typically Greek, bacon, eggs in many forms, ham, cheese, a huge variety of breads and pastries, fresh coffee and orange, fruit etc.
There are quite a few cats (and kittens) around the hotel, and in fact in the whole village - which we loved - we fed them regularly and took many many photo's of them. The staff at the hotel and the restaurants discouraged them from entering too close to the visitors, in case they weren't a fan of cats - but we loved them.
Gorgeous surroundings - small village like atmosphere around Panormos. Even the villagers greeted us as we walked by, which was so friendly.
A restaurant that was fabulous with amazing food and atmosphere was right near the beach - PSIRIS - run by a lovely man that we named Captain Birdseye (who when you meet him you will know why we nicknamed him this) - extremely friendly and welcomed us every time we had a meal there - which was about 9 times in 2 weeks!
Right opposite the hotel is a fabulous market shop that sells all sorts - wine, bread, pastries, soft drinks, foods etc...we found this very handy.
The pizza restaurant across from the hotel (PRIMAVERA) does yummy pizzas (and pasta meals) - the pizzas are huge and freshly made to order.
We 100% recommend this hotel - and would visit again in a heartbeat.

Extremely disappointed. Dirty hotel!

Dirtiest hotel we've ever stayed in! Absolutely disgusting bathroom and public areas unswept and uncared for. I realise that some of the room were awaiting renovation but that's no excuse for filth! Our bathroom was absolutely disgusting and shouldn't have been let to anyone. Didn't find the staff particularly friendly, spoke only when approached they were more interested in talking to each other then greeting holiday makers. We found broken glass under sunbed (also dirty, stained with no covers) asked for it to be swept, the staff didn't even move the bed just swept the small bit she could see instead of pulling bed out and sweeping properly, the shards were still there when we left! Avoid this hotel it's filthy and needs £ invested. We're not overly fussy people and put up with minor things however this was different level.

Dear friends,
You have booked a non rennovated street view room! We originally gave you a rennovated street view room that you didn't like because it was ground level. You asked for a change which we did next morning to a first floor non rennovated street view room. You said that you were happy with this second room. Unfortunately due to extremely high occupancy in August we couldn't upgrade you. Our rooms are not dirty and this can be proved by the good reviews we have especially for cleaning. Sometimes because non rennovated rooms are old they look a bit tired! Our pool area is full of vegetation trees and flowers so sometimes with the wind there are leaves down although we sweep the pool area at least 5 times per day!
Of course our non rennovated rooms are old but we try to keep them in a good condition and of course we sell them cheaper than the rest of our rooms. Please ask for a rennovated pool view room next time. We will be extremely happy to see you again and maybe change your mind!
It is a pitty that you didn't come at the reception at all to give us your complaints because we would try to solve them on the spot and make your stay better with us!

Great little hotel

This is a great little hotel. It was peaceful, not overcrowded and in a good location.
Pros
Never overcrowded. The rooms were basic but clean. We had one of the un-refurbished apartments and it was fine, had the basic facilities you expect in Greece.
Location is good a number of restaurants nearby, all of good quality - our favourite was il Posto at the end of the road and the very good value Italian opposite (pasta and pizza are both great and very well priced!). We visited Telendos (recommend) and went on the Lazy Day cruise you can book via the QR code on the board in reception. All staff were friendly and helpful, it really is a great little find and if I was coming back to Kalymnos, I’d come here again and would recommend to others.
Cons
It is quiet - if you want something with a bit of a vibe, this probably isn’t it - my kids are 12 and 14 and they were probably a little bored at times (I loved it to just sit by the pool and relax!)
There isn’t really any bars where you can go and have a drink with entertainment - it lacks that type of vibe and we didn’t find anywhere that showed the football, for example when the season started and hubby and son wanted to watch (such a shame! )
Other info
The departure/wait times - our flight arrived at 12, we didn’t get the ferry until 5.15 (we went with Jet2) on the way home, our flight was 8.40pm and we got collected from the hotel at 12! We knew that there would be longer wait times but it was a little lengthier than we anticipated (obvs this is for info as nothing to do with the actual hotel -just helpful info for others travelling with Jet2).
Overall this is a great hotel, very clean, has the basics of what you need (we were able to make breakfast and lunch everyday with the little facilities you do get so you can make it work) I say it was definitely value for money and would come again.

Family friendly hotel with a gorgeous pool and gardens

Just returned from a fabulous 2 week stay at Kalydna Island. The hotel is lovely with the most amazing, well looked after pool - and always enough sun loungers. The gardens are beautiful with plenty of trees and bushes, including pomegranate trees. The staff were lovely and so helpful and friendly. We loved our apartment which consisted of a double room and twin room on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the pool and mountains. Rooms were cleaned everyday and we found them to be modern with comfortable beds and great aircon (we had a leaky unit when we first arrived but the staff quickly got someone in to repair it). The twin room has a small kitchen area and fridge. It’s worth knowing that access to the bathroom from the double room is via the twin room and there is a large gap between the wall and ceiling of the 2 rooms. This helps the cool air to circulate but we found it more effective to leave the double bedroom door open, so not ideal if you want privacy between the rooms but as a family this wasn’t a problem for us. The hotel is in a lovely part of the island - several lovely bars on the beach (we loved Sabbia and Rock & Blues) and tavernas just a 5-10 minute walk away with amazing sunset views . Would definitely recommend hiring a car for a few days to explore (we saw pretty much everything in 3 days). Taxis are also easily available. Telendos and Pserimos islands are nice for day trips and we especially liked the main town of Pothia (a 15 min drive) and the fishing village Vathys (about a 30 min drive). Just a brilliant all round holiday and a big thank you to the Kalydna Island hotel and staff for being our lovely Greek home for 2 weeks.

Beautiful Pool and Gardens

Great place to stay.
I think we were unlucky with our rooms as they were not modernised and had poor views from the balcony. But the rooms were fine and the beds were comfy and the bathrooms were good.
Staff were lovely, especially the lady who looked after the reception during the evenings - very friendly and very funny.
Breakfast was fairly basic but good.
The pool and surrounding gardens are fantastic - beautiful, very pretty, quiet and relaxing. Could possibly do with more sun-beds but to be fair we always got them when wanted.
The pool bar was very disappointing - poorly stocked, very few tables and chairs, no background music and hence no atmosphere and didn’t encourage any social interaction between guests. Not the fault of the lady who looked after the bar, who was very nice. Then there was no evening bar - well not open anyway - reception would get you a drink but that’s not really the point.
Good location close to the beach and good bars and restaurants.
Overall a great stay at a lovely hotel - but they could make it much better if they made an effort with bar areas.
