Kuru Suites magic accompanied by Exceptional dinning at Solitaire
My wife and i just spent 5 nights at Kuru suites and i cant rate them highly enough. They all have a separate relaxing room with swing chairs, private sauna, bath and shower and amazing views of the forest and lake. The breakfasts at Solitaire are world class (although the choice of food is a little limited), and the dinners at Solitaire, made by chef Rimi are also Michelin grade. Remi uses local produce to concoct the most awesome meals that you wont find anywhere else! The pike, tortellini, cauliflower soup and mushroom pasta were all exceptional as were the desserts. A true gastronomic delight in the middle of the forest! They also have private saunas on the lake edge where one can take a sauna and/or jacuzzi and then take a dip in the lake to cool off. We loved the resort and hope to be back sometime in the not too distant future

Luxury summer camp for grownups!
This luxury getaway in Finland’s Lake country was the perfect way to experience nature after spending several days in Helsinki during our first visit to the country. Kuru is the luxury part of the large larger Järvisydän resort in the Lake Saimaa area. Our Lake Suite was in one of the many individual buildings nestled into the hill/cliffside leading down to the shores of a lake. The room was private and romantic with spectacular panoramic views. It had a beautiful sauna as well as a protected balcony. The room was appointed with the expected amenities and immaculately clean. Breakfast at the restaurant was all right if not, particularly memorable, but for dinner, the restaurant transforms into a high-end experience with dishes, created by the French born and internationally trained chef front of the house is managed by his wife, who is welcoming, warm, and simply wonderful.
We had no trouble filling our three days with activities. The electric mountain biking on well established trails was an absolute blast although neither of us had any experience. The sauna world building was fun. The day trip by boat to an island that offered a short hike was well worth it. (If interested I would recommend taking the morning boat trip and packing a picnic lunch to spend the day hiking the longer trails and then taking the afternoon boat back to the hotel. Otherwise your time on the island is only about an hour which is too short to do anything but the shortest of the hikes.). Kayaking is available as are a number of other activities.
The 4-stars instead of 5 for this review are based on (1) there was not really anywhere to easily unpack two suitcases and that became a little awkward for a three night stay.; (2) there is not turndown housekeeping service in the evenings, (3) there was no parking space by the building our room was in (or most of the other buildings we saw) and it was a little inconvenient to keep parking a distance up the drive in a lot. Kuru and Jarvisydan are far enough from each other that you’ll want to drive between them so having the car outside the room would have been preferable.
We highly recommend the resort for a fun, romantic few days immersed in beautiful scenery while staying in luxury.

your private house in Finnish nature
wonderful small houses, everything what you need to relax. Not all of them are ideally placed for maximum privacy and look into the nature. The solidary restaurant is a MUST, but also the bistro in the nearby area is fine.

Good quality resort
Kuru resort, which is a part of Järvisydän, is promoted to be luxurious. I didn't find any luxury, but nothing terribly wrong either. We visited Kuru off-season, so it was quiet and peaceful. The scenery is broken by other villas, saunas and roads, but I guess that's the way it is in every resort. I liked the breakfast that was delivered to the room. There was enough to eat. We also tried the järvisydän breakfast buffet one day, and discovered that most breakfast items are the same. Kuru breakfast doesn't include any warm dishes, but the juice is better quality and you get a pancake per person.
The biggest problem with Kuru/ Järvisydän is that at least in autumn you can not get any lunch anywhere in the resort. The options are to buy plastic-wrapped sandwiches at the Järvisydän reception or drive to Rantasalmi. When you spend the day at outdoor activities, it would be nice to have something to eat.
We also tried the morning yoga lessons and Kuru signature spa treatments. We enjoyed them both, I think it was worth the money.
At Kuru, they have opted to light the trees /forest instead of roads. I found this incredibly dangerous solution. The landscape has really steep hills, and walking at dark when you can't really see the road, is to say the least, uncomfortable. Kuru roads are also used by cars, and bad visibility creates also a collision risk. I recommed bringing a good headlight and safety vest.
The biggest problem with Kuru/ Järvisydän is that at least in autumn you can not get any lunch anywhere in the resort. The options are to buy plastic-wrapped sandwiches at the Järvisydän reception or drive to Rantasalmi. When you spend the day at outdoor activities, it would be nice to have something to eat.

Beautiful spa for couples with improvements in the restaurant menu
The place is very beautiful. The service is absolutely top notch with good staff who speak English.
Very beautifully located place and also a lovely hotel room with a magical view. Quiet and very peaceful for couples who want to experience the tranquility. The place is very beautiful with great opportunities for various activities. The nearby lake invites you to various activities and the opportunity to see unique seals.
Some improvements that can be implemented.
1) All text is in Finnish, i.e. signs and explanations, so it's a bit difficult to get around and you have to ask about exactly everything.
2) The tasting menu at the Solitary restaurant was well "specified" and stood out a lot with flavors that didn't really last all the way. It would have been good if there was an alternative to the tasting menu.
3) It was somewhat unclear what was and was not included in the package. Here, better information about the various activities and text in English is needed.
4) Parking payment can only be carried out if you have a Finnish-registered car. It is unclear whether you will be fined if you have a foreign-registered car.
