It's not a hostel, it's rooms for rent.

Strongly agree with Lolapèseta's (2024) comments. The name "White Horse Inn" can be confusing, do not expect to see a nice little hostel under plane trees. To access the rooms there is no Welcoming, only internet instructions. On the other hand you have to climb endless very steep steps, so do not clutter your luggage... Otherwise my room on the 1st was okay but it was not a view of the garden, as specified in the description but a small balcony with views of the roofs, as for the coffee machine, unless I was wrong, I did not see it. There was just a kettle because there is no breakfast planned. So when you take the boat early it's a bit "steep" (109€ per night)....

What Hostel?

The restaurant is called Le (petit) Cheval Blanc.
The Hostel du Cheval Blanc is neither a Restaurant nor a Pension, there is no reception, it is rooms above the restaurant, with a very steep staircase, that is all.
The n°3 overlooks a building courtyard, and is equipped with a very noisy Sanibroyeur. The bathroom / toilet has no door but a simple curtain.
A kettle is available.
The room was not made during our stay.
In September the night is between 90 and 110€.

Think before you book

This auberge has a superb location, only minutes from Napoleon’s house or the restaurants on the harbor – and the rooms aren’t bad: mine had an excellent modern bathroom and a tiny balcony, most of it occupied by machinery. The lumpy mattress was OK for sleeping.
But there is a big problem: the steep dirty and poorly lit staircase you have to climb to get to the rooms. If you have a mobility problem or much baggage, this isn’t the place for you. Also, it isn’t a hotel: no reception desk or office, no breakfast (though there’s a restaurant downstairs). Also, the room door is very hard to lock as you leave. All in all, it’s like a low-scale Air Bnb, and thus very much overpriced.

Great location, clean rooms

The rooms are well sized and new and clean with basic amenities. No traditional check in desk and sometimes hard to find someone for help, this is really more for independent travelers who are okay with doing some pretty steep stairs on the way to their room. That being said, the location couldn't be better if you want to be in the center of town. Short walk to beach, all the restaurants, shopping, etc.

Well located bed-sit apartment.

We stayed one night at Auberge du Cheval Blanc in a small second story, one-room apartment located in an old building in the historic district of Ajaccio. The apartment was clean and well equipped and it is a very short walk to the Bonaparte Museum which is worth visiting. An incident worth reporting is that we awoke at 4 am to the sound of water dripping from the ceiling. Unfortunately, it was located above my open suitcase. We put buckets and towels out to catch the water and tried to wake the concierge who lives on the same floor. Unfortunately, we could not rouse her so returned to bed. The water was still dripping at 7 am when we got up but stopped soon afterwards. We packed our bags to leave and then were able to contact the concierge to let her know the problem. We left soon afterwards and have not been contacted since so do not know what caused it.
