A wonderful welcome and gorgeous location

We stay at La Verrerie du Gast every year in June, when we attend the 24 Heures du Mans. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else. The accommodation is exceptional and Valerie and Pascal are delightful hosts. Nothing is too much trouble (including us asking for a VERY early breakfast on Saturday!). Valerie serves delightful breakfasts with home made preserves, pain perdu, cheeses and charcuterie…. Always an extensive choice of lovely things.
This is a perfectly wonderful location if you want a restful break in the Normandy countryside.

Another enjoyable visit to a special place.

We visit La Verrerie du Gast every June as part of our trip to the 24 Heures du Mans. Every year it’s a really special experience that I will never get tired of recommending. The setting, in the Forêt d’Ecouves, is magical, peaceful and restful but within easy reach of Alençon and Sées. The rooms are eclectic and pretty, with high quality en suite bathrooms.
Valerie (who speaks fluent English) provides a wonderful breakfast of home made fare, in a pretty room overlooking the sweeping drive. (This year I found out that the fireplace is original to the house, made from Caen stone).
If you’re looking for a quiet break in a beautiful setting, thighs will suit you very well. And if you can’t bear to leave the world behind during your stay, free wi-fi is provided.

Best Chambre Dote I have stayed in

From the moment we arrived , the warm welcome , friendliness and made feel at home
A lovely clean bedroom with great views over the gardens
A drink with the owners and their friends . A great chat , with French and English spoken
Showed around the small but amazing farm . Told the history of the area and the house
Best breakfast ever in France . All home made and served with class
We will be back to this wonderful gem

We keep going back!

We stay here every year as part of our 24 heures du Mans experience, and every year we are totally delighted with every aspect of our stay. There’s always a warm and friendly welcome. We’ve experienced 2 different rooms in this gorgeous house and both are exceptional - spacious, comfortable, well appointed. The bathrooms are particularly lovely, with heated towel rails and excellent showers.
The breakfasts are delicious! Home made preserves and selections of meat and cheeses, as well as a hot dish should you so wish.
The setting is beautiful, the house nestling in the forest and a sweeping lawn and drive leading you to the front door. If you stay here you won’t be disappointed.

Just lovely !

We stayed here for one night on our way down to the Dordogne. Our room was clean and comfortable with a super shower room. Valerie and her husband were very welcoming hosts and the icing on the cake was the wonderful breakfast that Valerie served - eggs from their own hens, beautiful pain perdu, homemade preserves plus much more. I had to be dragged away from the table! It was the best breakfast we had in our entire stay in France.
