See the sunrise from the hill

On our trip to Sri Lanka we stayed for 2 nights at Ella Happy View, and the place keeps the promise of a beautiful view: get up at dawn to see the sun rise from above! The place is surrounded by greenery and in a quiet area, but following the railway in 5 minutes you will be in the center of the village. The train passes right in front of the structure (except at night) but instead of being a disturbance this becomes a feature. The room was spacious and well maintained and the bathroom clean and equipped with new sanitary facilities.
The owners were hospitable and kind and breakfast on the veranda is very pleasant.
So if you are in the area I would definitely recommend staying at Ella Happy View.

Must stay in Ella!

The best place to stay to experience Ella.
Wonderful location overlooking q waterfall, and just minutes away on the train tracks to all the restaurants.
Very friendly staff and nice rooms.
Highly recommended!

Hidden gem

A real gem in Ella, and we are really glad we found it. We ment to stay for two nights, but then decided to stay also for the third night. Very quiet and calm place, and yet just a short walk to city center by rail tracks. Also directly by the way to Ella rock.
Friendly and helpful owners, they even invited us to dinner in their home.
Breakfast with homegrown coffee was perfect!
Would 100% reccommend.

Lovely surprise!

We stayed at Happy View for one night and truly enjoyed our stay. The room is nice and clean with a hot shower. It has a lovely balcony with an amazing view of Ella Gap and is just a short walk to the main street in Ella. The owners greeted us with tea and biscuits and were so warm and welcoming during our stay.

Best view in all of Ella

Why should you stay here? First-the room: big comfy bed, nice decor (surprisingly modern) HOT water, clean towels, garden full of flowers, tucked into a grove of various fruit trees (the owner will show you what each one is if you are interested) and the VIEW! You see the waterfall right from your bedroom door. Second-breakfast: family will serve you any time you ask for, they also give you tea and biscuits in the afternoon. The meal is large and includes eggs, toast, coffee or tea, some Sri Lankan style foods (roti or Eggroll or string hopper with pandan filling) and a fruit plate. Third-the location: instead of going through the town, just walk along the railroad track (you will soon discover this is what you do here in Ella) and the hotel is just minutes down from the Ella station. Then if you want to go into the town, it is just a short stroll downhill! No noisy busy streets!
There is no WiFi. It is relaxing and tranquil, except when the train passes, a few times a day, but that’s Ella.
The family that runs the place doesn’t speak quick English, but be patient and they will understand you and help you with anything you need. They are too kind and wonderful to describe.
