But... there is ALWAYS one elevator broken. And this time even both (be it for a couple of hours). Almost every guest complains it is 'wobbly' and has funny noises. One guest noted it was already 37 years old and should long have been replaced. I am sure its safe, don't worry if you fancy this hotel, but why not do it right instead of posting apology leaflets?
This sums it up; why are Novotel not keeping the place up to date? It is a wonderful place, well booked at high prices. No reason why this could not be a top-notch venue!!! Why does the roof need supporting with scafollding when you can just repair this. Why are we seeing stained 80ties brown carpets in some rooms, and why haven't the rooms been made a bit more attractive (although they are functionally fine). Why does not every room have a Senseo coffee maker, but only some? Speaking of which, why at breakfast is the standard coffee some instant version, whilst the friendly barista makes you a wonderful cup but at extra cost? Why does the restaurant close at 9pm and the bar at 10 pm? On a Friday night!
All in all, it just doesn't make sense. Like driving a Porsche with a moped engine. Novotel, I know you make lots of money with this hotel; please re-invest some as well before guests stop coming... Thanks.

Unsafe asbestos eaves under the air-conditioning inlet

Following your report, the area was inspected and we can confirm that the material in question was not asbestos. While the damaged eaves understandably raised safety concerns, we would like to reassure future guests that there was no asbestos risk associated with the area you referenced.
We also recognise that the air conditioning issue during your stay was disappointing and inconvenient, particularly given the warm climate in Darwin. As discussed with you directly, we have provided a refund in response to the disruption caused.

Novotel Darwin CBD
We tried out the restaurant, throughly enjoyed our meals, and also the outdoor seating.
Just a couple of criticisms - no working extraction fan in the bathroom, so steamed up very quickly and became very hot - was actually quite unpleasant. And the air conditioner was very noisy.
But a positive experience overall

Terribly rundown and should not be under the Novotel/Accor brand
How this hotel is running under a brand name such as Novotel is beyond me.
It is so dated and rundown, the bathroom walls have raw plugs in them where previous accessories have been removed, the sink is cracked, the towel rail looks like it’s being held on by a wing and a prayer. The carpet is stained and the air cons don’t appear to be able to motivate themselves in the drab surrounds to blow cold air!
We have a 2 bedroom apartment with a city view which entails a beautiful view of the car park with a rust bucket of a van parked in a space that says skip….if only there was a skip there to take all the crappy parts of the hotel away!
It is either being renovated or the 5th floor roof is being held up by wood and steel in the hope it doesn’t fall on someone in the lobby below.
Having just looked at the view we made the decision to go spend the day at Berry springs instead.
Luckily we only have a night here and we managed to checkin and be out for the evening within 10 minutes.
Please don’t stay here!

I am genuinely sorry to learn that your first impression of the hotel did not meet your expectations. It is disappointing to read that the condition of the apartment, including the bathroom, carpet, air conditioning and overall presentation, detracted from your experience. I would also like to clarify that the structural support visible within our atrium forms part of planned engineering and maintenance works. These works are professionally managed with guest safety as the highest priority and do not present any risk to our guests.
What is most disappointing is that we were not made aware of your concerns during your stay. Had we been given the opportunity, our team would have gladly attended to the room, discussed alternative accommodation options within the hotel where available, or otherwise assisted to make your stay more enjoyable.
