Cute and cosy!
My Mum and I are so grateful for this hotel.
We live in Hertfordshire and were in Pevensey bay for a break. My Dad, unfortunately became unwell and had to be admitted into hospital. Before I painfully made my way back home, without Mum, I found this quaint little place close to Eastbourne hospital for her (Much better than a dull Premier Inn!) She adored it. A little rough around the edges but she fell in love with it all. Especially the garden. It put my mind at ease that she would be safe and it was one less thing for her to worry about. She stayed there for a week.
I cannot tell you how amazing the staff were to her. Even bought her flowers for her room. Organised taxis there and back after being in the hospital all day and made her a fantastic fry up breakfast every morning. We managed to transfer Dad back to Watford General but he sadly passed away a few weeks later. This place will be etched in our memories and as I said before, we will be forever grateful to them. It's the cutest little place and the staff are one in a million. On behalf of my mum and I. Thank you.

Mixed bag lovely staff poor facilities
Well a mixed bag
Loved the staff and those with SEND
I get that the floors and building is old ( rooms floor was sloping
I didn’t like the bed that was broken but was fixed quickly so fair enough.
But the pillows? So lumpy absolutely awful and no spring left , when you laid on them no support just flat to mattress
Everything there just very tatty.
Wardrobe doors didn’t close .
Panelling on the wall but has gaps with visable padding in between .
Plug socket didn’t work but again was fixed quickly.
No plug for kettle had to use it on the floor.
Cups not taken out was a 2 night stay and no one refreshed the room .
Bathroom … bath had paint splatters all in it and shower was hard to work as didn’t stay up in the holder and taps very stiff.
Breakfast was ok and they tried well with request all very nicely laid out but sausages were very small and not to my taste and we have smoked bacon at home this wasn’t so again personal taste but just didn’t enjoy , attentive and helpful staff but not for me sadly.

Cosy and comfortable with a fascinating past.
We stayed midweek for a couple of nights and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is cosy, the staff friendly and helpful and the location delightful. Our room had everything we needed and whilst the age of the building meant that some floors were a bit uneven, and low beams needed to be avoided (especially for someone like me who is 1.95 metres tall (6ft 4in)) we still had a very comfortable stay - it’s character!
The history of Chalk Farm is fascinating - it is said to have inspired the location for Orwell’s Animal Farm and there is a small display in the breakfast room.
And the breakfast - included in our room rate - was great with a choice of cooked, cereal, yoghurt toast etc.
There is an excellent Thai restaurant within 5 mins walking distance in Willingdon as well as two pubs and a post office so local amenities are easily accessed.
The hotel is also handily-located for nearby Eastbourne and other local attractions.
Recommended.

Appalling visit, disgrace.
Stayed at this place, well if you can call it a stay! On boxing day after a busy Christmas period with the wife as a cosy stay away. No! We were given a room(room 4) that had a large water tank above ceiling above our bed that was filling up all night! Never got a wink of sleep as a result had to leave the property in freeze cold to get a cab at 3a.m due to expensive noise that was report twice. As if this wasn't bad enough that when I've put a complaint in via answer phone message because they don't pick up the phone, email and through booking.com I've had no response what so ever (15 days now)! No sorry, no refund nothing. Discussing way to treat people spending there hard earned money for a nice great away treat. Do not stay here there just take your money and not give a dam about after they've received it! Furious! Good job it won't let me attach video's

Great peaceful stay with stunning views
We came for 1 night stay had few issues finding the farm but when we arrived we received the warmest welcome and even though we arrived early was shown straight to room and offered to help with bags. Room basic with a few stains in bath and dirty bathmat but comfortable and the views are stunning so peaceful. The bed was a little uncomfortable and could of done with another pillow but breakfast was outstanding overall great value for money and the staff so friendly we will be back
