Avoid the Private Boutique Apartments
Boutique strange description for an absolute tip!
We received no information on how to gain entry not that we thought we would need to. However after finding the property which looked nothing like the advertised picture we were taken to a side road adjacent to a graffiti painted wall, piles of black rubbish bags and a drab white door. Which when opened led down a plain internal concrete corridor and on to another door. The smell of stale cooking mainly curry hit us. We were led up two flights of stairs and to room 202 which was nothing like any of the advertised pictures of rooms we had seen online! A large mirror was simply leaning against a wall. The tv hung limply on another wall and did not work! The remote had welded batteries and did not respond. The welcoming beverage tray lacked milk and coffee but provided six tea bags and countless sugar sachets. The fridge beside the bed was noisy and the hob and oven on the other side of the bed had no pots and pans not that we wanted any. There was an open box thing that masqueraded as a place to put ones clothes. The toilet/ shower room was grotty and the sink would not drain but we did have two toilet rolls which helped mop out the sink. The bed was comfortable but the incessant noise from the fridge and the street below was unpleasant.
We kept thinking at least it’s a bed for the night and that turned out to be true! As when we came back the following evening we were locked out and cast out into the streets! Apparently our booking agent had not paid the boutique their money So the boutique demanded money to let us back into our room to retrieve our belongings. The man that demanded money would not explain what had gone wrong and just kept saying “you pay me” over and over again.
In later communication with the booking agent they told me that the Boutique cancelled the booking and not the booking agent.
To make matters worse my wife is severely visually impaired So Imagine being turfed out of your accommodation at 8pm in an unfamiliar city through no fault of our own. 2 hours later We eventually found alternative accommodation at a Travelodge.
