Had a lovely night stay at Norton House.
Staff were nice and friendly. Nice room with separate lounge area. Great location. Breakfast ok - would have helped if we had spotted menu to know needed to order eggs if not want scrambled, but just told to help ourselves to the buffet breakfast. We would recommend though and intend to stay at Norton House again.
Only negative was when using the hot water it made such a noise but think we were near the boiler as heard it when room next to us used it as well.

Hotel expectations of guests having to stocktake

Free car park and in walking distance to the beach. Buffet breakfast but you have to order fried, boiled or poached eggs. A supplement of about £4 for varied breakfast like eggs Benedict is not welcomed!
This is the only hotel in over 50 years that expects customers to check the bedroom items right down to individual pillows! Anything not there at the end of you stay is chargeable. We found this statement most intimidating!!! Staff are paid to stocktake - not customers!!!
Staff were fine.

Very good

We enjoyed our stay here, just the one night. We had one of the rooms separate from the main hotel which was nice but the ceiling must be v thin as the noise from upstairs was pretty loud....however the people staying there must have got ij before us and up after us so no issues with sleep. Staff were nice, and helpful. Breakfast tasty, appreciated that they did vegan sausages for me even tho it was just 10am. Happy hour in bar was v good value, buy 2 drinks get cheapest free! Parking plentiful and was good location just outside the village, 5 mins walk but quiet.

A little gem

We were there for a catered lunch. The service was excellent, the lunch was beautifully laid out as a buffet. It was plentiful, freshly prepared and we will book a break at the hotel soon. Marvellous views of the bay and a huge car park.

Will not be returning.

Booked through booking.com - I put on the additional comments that we would be celebrating my husband's 40th birthday - this was totally ignored!
What an experience.
Our room was extremely dirty!
. Dust on the windowsill and top of mirror
. Bedsheets had black marks on it
. Draws had hairs and black dirt in them
. Room and bathroom not hoovered
. Fans full of dust
. Tea/coffee stains up the wall.
When was the last time this room was cleaned?
Manager came up and offered us another room - but we decided against it after seeing how dirty our room was.
We had a full refund and found somewhere else to stay.
Only positive thing to say was that the staff were very understanding and polite.
