A bit of faded elegance
Centrally located in the beautiful town. Elegant room, a little faded but rather stylish and cosy. Very nice bathroom. From the huge balcony a nice view to the beautiful alley. Breakfast a bit basic but good with nice personal service. Corridor and balcony could need a little maintenance or upgrade. Friendly reception staff. Free parking behind the building.

Birthday dinner party for four
We were not hotel guests, but dinner guests in the restaurant.
The restaurant is pleasantly furnished in a comfortable, light, blond wood- style reminiscent of "1990 modern chic".
Sadly, the waitress was completely out of her league in this type of restaurant. She was very friendly, but despite the very simple menu and the simple order, she messed the order up (at this time there were only a few tables occupied, 6.00 pm). After dinner, we lingered on until the official closing time. I would have liked to order a few drinks after we finished our desserts, but the service had completely stopped at that time, although the chef came by to (very mechanically) asked us if the food was good. During the last 30 minutes, we tried to get the waitress´ attention to pay the check. Finally, the chef, who sat on the next table, noticed and got her (through hand sign) to come to our table. When the Lady of the house took over the order-taking from the waitress, she was able to quickly exchance the wrong orders and sort it out.
Generally, the service was just OK, although the friendliness was excellent.
As for the food, It was very good, typical "Gutbürgerlich" (in a good middle-class way) - honest, very simple, very well prepared food, the kind one would have been served in most European restaurants 40 years ago, but which, in this quality and at this price point, has unfortunately mostly disappeared in all but a tiny number of restaurants.
There were a few unfortunate hick-ups, such as the grainy mushroom soup, the sorry overbaked cheese-straws and the less than delectable tasting ham which accompanied the mushroom (Chanterelle) soup. Also, the presentation of the not so tender but perfectly cooked veal steak on top of vegetables and Knöpfle (described as Spätzle on the menü), bathed in a delicious cream sauce took away from the overall quality of the dish. The bread was rather unremarkable, much like any wannabe-baguette, you´ll get at a supermarket. The accompanying tomato Marmelade was WAY too sweet and better suited to be featured on a dessert. Finally, the real disaster was the coffee-crème brûlée which had the texture of heavy mashed potatoes and the sweet cracker, which was soggy from probably not being properly stored.
However, this meal was exceptional value for money, which explains some of the hick-ups.
Overall, the food and drinks were highly enjoyable, the service was friendly, and my friends and I have vowed to come back often. Although the menu is limited, there is enough selection to come back often and never eat the same for some time, by which time, without doubt, the menu will have adjusted to the new season. I understand the chef is mostly alone in the kitchen. To produce food of this caliber deserves to respect my admiration.

Worst dinner ever
We booked the special Sunday night package that included a four course dinner. The room was fine but the food was almost inedible. The chef is putting the most bizarre flavours together that result in dreadful dishes. Carpaccio of fish shouldn't be smothered in mayonnaise (plus the fish wasn't fresh and tasted awful), shrimps shouldn't be swimming in water and breast of duck should be pink with crispy skin, not grey with soggy skin.
Very disappointing.

Nettes Hotel
mit Fehlern. Hatte das Zimmer gegenüber dem Essenssaal Leider fand abends eine größere Feier statt, so das es bis ca 23Uhr recht laut war, und danach wurden dann auch noch die Gläser geräuschvoll aufgeräumt, morgens wurde man gegen 7,15 Uhr durch den Sauger geweckt. Hinzu kommt, das die Matratze dermaßen hart war (es nützte auch keine zusätzliche Decke darüber) das man das Gefühl hatte, man bekommt überall blaue Flecke. Und wer um 8,30 Uhr zum Frühstück kommt, hat Pech da sind die Körnerbrötchen schon weg! Positiv ist der kostenlose Parkplatz am Haus und die Sauberkeit des Zimmers. Glaube aber trotzdem nicht das ich dort noch mal nächtigen werde.
