This small, family-run guest house in Bischofswiesen is surrounded by the scenic Berchtesgaden Alps. It offers country-style rooms and apartments. Free WiFi is available in communal areas. The non-smoking Hotel Gebirgshäusl serves a breakfast buffet. All of the rooms and apartments at the Gebirgshäusl feature light wooden furniture and satellite TV. Some have a balcony. A shared washing machine and dryer are also located there. The Hotel Gebirgshäusl is a great base for trips to Munich and Salzburg. Popular acitivites in the Bischofswiesen area include skiing, mountain biking, and hiking. This property will not accommodate hen, stag or similar parties. Please note that the rooms could be located in the annex, 300 metres from the main building. This also means that there is a high chance of having an upgrade. At Home in Berchtesgaden
We arrived to find an amazing suite... two bedrooms, a living room with a flat-panel tv, cable, couch and armchair. There was a German-style wooden corner dining room table. The suite had a full kitchen complete with a wide variety of glassware and large refrigerator. There were two bathrooms. There was also a beautiful tile fireplace/stove in the corner. We felt very comfortable and at-home.
Our suite was in a building up the street from the Gasthaus and it was very nice. There appeared to have been 5 or 6 other suites in the building. In the basement there was a do-it-yourself spa with saunas, a strange free-standing spa tub, tanning bed and cold room - pretty cool! Not pro-quality - imagine you gave your parents $20k to build a spa in their basement.... that kind of thing. Our suite (and the others) had a patio with table and chairs as well. We were very impressed... amazing value for the price.
The hotel/gasthaus is just down the road from Berchtesgaden... literally a few minutes out. The views at the hotel are breathtaking and it was an amazing experience to awake and go outside (we arrived at night) to see the gorgeous mountains! The restaurant was fantastic... classic Bavarian styling. We only ate breakfast there, but did so all three mornings. The business is run by a husband and wife and what appeared to be one of their parents. The husband and wife were very kind and good to our kids and spoke English. I could sit all day in this gasthaus. The breakfast is a great value for the price.
Upon check-in we were offered a chance to purchase a local discount card... we did. Still unclear as to whether it's worth it, as at least one place we visited didn't accept them. Nonetheless, the parking lots at Königssee and Kehlstein/Obersalzburg gave us a discount for them.
Fantastic place, terrific value, we will stay there again - for longer next time! Berchtesgaden is my favorite place, and staying at this establishment makes it seem like owning a local timeshare.
P.S. - Wifi at our suite was AWFUL... and our cell service (WIND) was woefully insufficient... prepare accordingly. Plan to use comms in town if possible.

Great restaurant
The restaurant was very busy with a good atmosphere. Service was very good, being helped out to understand the German menu and assistance to cater for a gluten free dietary requirement. Food was excellent and would certainly recommend.
