The hotel and room are very clean, in a beautiful old building so not all rooms are the same. Free breakfast was amazing, so many choices and all fresh delicious food. Friendly staff and also really good deals on steins, beer glasses and some jewelry in the lobby. Right on the waterfront with many excellent restaurants, a beautiful walkway and lots of river trip opportunities right across the street!

BAD. DO NOT COME!!!

Awful. Not even done yet and I'm confident in this review. Lazy and disgusting food, small room, one of the rooms above me leaked from ceiling tiles. Water is yellow- health risk- and TV is bad. Only true positive is the staff and lobby. Once done, never again

I was in a double room overlooking the Rhein, with a balcony, though if leaving the door to the balcony open it did get a little noisy, though I probably wouldn't have noticed it had I not been travelling solo. There was a small fridge in the room suitable for cooling drinks, storing medication etc. There was no kettle, though to be fair I didn't ask for one either - so they may be available? Housekeeping undertaken on a daily basis.
The hotel entrance is directly opposite the kiosk for the Lorely Line - short river trips, with some commentary in German, English and Chinese (on the trip I took). A typical buffet breakfast available. All of the staff I had contact with were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is a short walk from the station - around half a mile - took me 10 minutes (in either direction) with a significant lung complaint reducing my stamina.

Never again

The staff is friendly, except for the Bulgarian maid, who placed the towels on the heater again instead of exchanging them as usual.
Therefore, I took back the tip for the maid when I greeted her with a friendly good morning; she did not seem to appreciate it, as she looked quite grumpy.
The beds were two single beds without a topper, which is not in line with modern standards; if you leaned against the wall, the bed would slide away.
The room had no way to darken it, as it only had colorful curtains, and one would wake up at 6 AM because it was too bright.
Additionally, the room was right next to the elevator, so sleep was out of the question, and if you did manage to fall asleep, you would be woken up immediately when the elevator was in use.

Negative experience.

We spent a 3-night stay with half board.
Old-fashioned hotel with wall-to-wall carpeting.
The bedding is mediocre. You can feel the box spring while on the mattress.
The meals are very basic, and the desserts are artificial (powdered chocolate mousse, powdered stracciatella mousse, tasteless vanilla pudding),
expired toast at breakfast.
Cold and unfriendly staff (not even a hello when passing by the reception in the morning).
In short, we will never return.
