Super beautiful room with its own terrace. Breakfast is plentiful, and the staff is very nice.

Practical hotel in very good location, friendly service, good breakfast, BUT: uncomfortable atmosphere

Be sure to inform about the check-in process in advance! House creaks everywhere , is kept very dark inside. Rooms rather cool and rather uncomfortable due to the poor, dark color scheme. We felt like we were in a ghost house, just because there are only a few hours a day staff.
Nevertheless functional and able to captivate. Value for money is right.
Staff (if anyone is there) very friendly.

Left Stranded when Confirmed reservation was denied

I arrived at the hotel around 9 pm on May 16, with a confirmed reservation booked through Hotels.com. I was unable to access the key (the reception closes at 2 (?)), and called the number provided. The man who answered not only denied the existence of the reservation, but also the existence of Hotels.com! He ws extremely rude, and we were left scrambling to make another reservation. So, if you're foolish enough to book here, make sure you call ahead.

Good breakfast, but little fruit, basic cozy atmosphere.
Afternoon arrival with the key code turns out to be a bit cold, there is no option to request anything: change non-clean sheets, a couple of pillows, or know how to operate the heating.
Attention during the morning is fine, friendly and solicitous, but they forget agreed things; it is so personal that the method does not abound.
The semi-basement room is unpleasant, and without a lift, you have to carry your suitcase.

Dissapointing Service

I am very disjointed--not with the hotel itself--it is clean and pretty, but with the service. Because of the national strike on Monday March 27th, my 8:15am flight out of Frankfurt (FRA) to NYC on Singapore Airlines was cancelled and changed to Sunday March 26th at 8:15am. Under my original itinerary I had booked two nights at the Hotel Monopol, arriving on March 24th and departing on Sunday March 26th to take the train to Frankfurt to leave early on the 27th. Because of the strike, I now only need one night stay as I am leaving on Sunday from Frankfurt Airport to the US. When I arrived and asked to be released for the second night I was told no, because I did not give 24-hour notice and because the strike is on Monday, not Sunday. So I am stuck paying for a night I am not staying for something that is completely out of my control. This lack of understanding, the unfriendly, snotty manner in which the reception person dealt with me, left me with a very poor impression of this hotel. Never again will I stay here.
