Very good

right in front: there is no restaurant anymore, I was skeptical at the beginning because I did not have a good experience with the hotel chain garni, but I was pleasantly surprised. it was a nice little hotel, clean, the landlords very friendly and accommodating, breakfast buffet was always something else on it, was good and plentiful, bathrooms a bit small, but you don't stay there all day, as long as clean (except for a little cobwebs on the wall) it was clean, beds ok, we would come back

Great in all the things that matter!

I agree with the former positive comments and especially liked that the Hotel is in a nice residential neighborhood located within a 10 minute walk to downtown and all key local attractions, and is a 15 minute drive to Duhnen (the local cute ocean resort village) and that the food (breakfasts are great and the SchweineHaxe and Sauerkraut is the best I have had) with the cold beer and warm hospitality having been exceptional during my 4 days there. I expect to return, and will remember to go to the right of the front entrance to get to the Hotel entrance on that side of the building to avoid having to go through the restaurant

good beer and cheer.

I book here for 3 nights whist staying in Cuxhaven visiting some friends. I have been here before, but only to eat and drink and this is the first time I have stayed here. Very much a family run hotel, the proprietor was telling me he had been here for 46 years and made us very welcome. The beer was excellent and the food superb, this included the buffet breakfast. I found the place was spotless clean and the beds very comfortable. Regrettably, as I am larger than Mr. average the only minus point was the on-suit was very small, partly my fault I know, but even my friend who is of average build complained about banging his elbows whilst showering!
If you want a good clean family run hotel which serves good beer and excellent food I can recommend you give this place a try.

I wish more small family run hotels were like this!

One day in mid-September 2011, I passed through Cuxhaven after a long motorcycle ride and desperately needed a comfortable stay overnight. An impressive looking historic building, located on a major thoroughfare (Poststrasse 105), caught my eye and looked promising. The room rate quoted was 54 Euros per night including breakfast. After inspecting the room first (as offered) checking in was swift. My room, on the second floor facing the Poststrasse, was of adequate size, had a comfortable bed and was clean. The proprietor also told me that all rooms had just received the latest TV technology (to watch occasionally CNN and BBC is bliss). Off street parking is available at the back of the hotel. Despite facing a main street, noise levels at night were minimal.
As for the food, Jürgen (proprietor and chef) is in a league of his own. During my stay I had dinner twice. My first meal was a 'Löwenbräu Pfanne' - his signature dish. The portion of well-prepared, succulent meat (served in a copper pan) was enormous and tasted, well, just wunderbar and lecker and cost only a meager 11.10 Euro. The second meal was a Jägerschnitzel and french fries (11.60 Euros). In my opinion the 'Pfanne' is definitely a culinary hit and a better deal. The breakfast buffet is another delight and the brewed coffee is excellent (Jürgen automatically checks the pot and brings a refill).
Within a very short time, it became apparent that Jürgen and his wife definitely know and love the hospitality business. Both are feisty communicators with a great sense of customer focus and humor (a trait seen far too seldom these days). I was so impressed with the service and the food, that I extended my stay by another night.
The city of Cuxhaven itself is a lovely place to visit. It takes only 20 minutes by foot to reach the city beaches at Döse and Duhnen, explore the harbour facilities and ferry terminals, or stroll through the Lotsen (Pilots) precinct and pedestrian shopping zone. Here is another special tip for all ice cream lovers. If you are in Cuxhaven, you must visit Da Dalto in the Nordersteinstrasse 14 (not far from the central railway station). Below is a photo just to whet your appetite.

More than I expected

I booked the hotel over the internet, not knowing what to expect. It is a family style, family run hotel / restaurant. It is centrally located and I was able to walk to town and to the beach in minutes.
The rooms are clean, european style with clean bathrooms.
What impressed me the most, and this is why I give it a five star rating, are the owners. They went above and beyond in helping me with various tasks and were extremely accommodating. They are the friendliest and most helpful people and I wish that all my travel experiences could be this pleasant.
Breakfast was included and very good. There was an excellent selection of freshly baked breads and rolls, ample amounts of cold cuts, cheeses, fish, salads, and eggs and good freshly brewed coffee. On my first night I had dinner at the restaurant because it was convenient. I ordered fish, my son had fish, too. It was the best fish that I've ever had and we went back for dinner almost every night.
I will definitely go back!
