Workshop in a vacation armosphrre
The surrounding of the hotel is amazing, idyllic place closed to the village Glonn. The food was very good, the young waiters or people at the reception were very friendly, always smiling, very helpful. We spent there 2 days for a workshop, but we felt like being on vacation.

Rural-romantic, but somewhat colorful-rustic country estate.
Countless artifacts inside and out, relatively well-kept huge plant with an alternative touch (to keep such a thing in perfect shape would require a whole company of servants). Nevertheless, very striving staff, professional Service, good food, perfect espresso, excellent wines (wedding party). Unfortunately, the hotel does not keep up with: modern styled superior 2-bed room, clean, but only 1 armchair as seating, no hook for (moist) overclothes, very small wardrobe, a wobbly, much too small suitcase rack, in the bathroom only a towel hook, sink drains in the bathroom and in the toilet largely blocked (??!!).

A step back in time, to a time that matters
We came here for a management meeting, and finding the place was difficult without a GPS as it is tucked away in woods, and in a valley you would not know had anything in it!
just like "The witch, the lion, and the wardrobe" coming into the front gates gave you a sense of wonder and anticipation that made you felt you had discovered another world.
This used to be an old hunting lodge that was buried deep in the forest and so had lots of rooms, and stables, the stables had been converted into meeting rooms, and hence our presence.
Take a look at the photos and you can see it is very interesting , and has some lovely features.
They cater for groups who want to learn to cook, or want to do team building, whilst cooking.
The bedroom was clean with a very good shower, but the shower curtain kept sticking to me, as the vacuum of the running water drew it towards me, so not good.
Otherwise i would highly recommended it, but unfortunately you cannot stay here unless you are with a party, whom are on a business function.

ORGANIC, BIO , HISTORICAL & MODERN
a wonderful compromize between a very long history and tradition, new architecture and design through an excellent restoration, even if from outside it still seems to enter into another time-space dimension, from several centuries ago.
Clean and charming rooms, awesome hosts, smiles everywhere, and an excellent cuisine.

A very inspiring bio/green label property in the Bavarian countryside
It is the 4th time I stayed with a group of leaders of a corporate client in Gut Sonnenhausen. And once again it was a pleasant experience and a very inspiring setting to run a leadership seminar. Participants, who come from all around the world, are surprisd and charmed by the special vibe Gut Sonnenhausen has.
I have stayed here in spring, in summer and in autumn, and each time there is a different attractive feeling about this place. The estate with 25ha of land is set in a fabulous environment, with view over the Alps (weather permitting).
The staff, mostly young people, are friendly and very helpful, and especially very inspiring flexible with timing and special requests we have.
The property belongs to the son of the very inspiring Karl-Leopold Schweinsfurth, former Herta owner, who decided to start a new life, focusing on symbiotic farming and ecological production with the Herrmannsdorfer Landwerkstätten (only 2 km away and a nice walk, and absolutely worth a visit!).
Charm, character and the immediacy of nature are not the only reasons why people opt for the Sonnenhausen estate: in addition to very good organic cuisine and growing its own organic vegetables, Sonnenhausen offers a professional service for conferences and private events.
Gut Sonnenhausen adheres to ecological principles that involves using exclusively traditional natural materials: wood, brick, stone and wrought iron. You don’t find a television or a minibar in the rooms, because in Sonnenhausen what you get is peace and quiet.
The listed property, that consists of five buildings grouped in a horseshoe shape round the courtyard to protect it from the wind, had to be completely renovated and restored. The former schnaps distillery became a very cosy restaurant, the bakery a seminar room, and the stables were turned into generously proportioned conference rooms. I personally prefer "Atelier".
The former rooms of the novices were turned into individually designed guest rooms.
The approximately 2,400 m² organic vegetable garden provides the kitchen with fresh herbs and vegetables according to season. What can’t be grown on the spot is supplied by the organic specialist gastronomy wholesaler EPOS or by the Herrmannsdorfer Landwerkstätten. Wines come from vintner friends like La Selva, Nicolaihof, Janson Bernhard, Holger Hagen and the Lorenz winery. Guests are offered food and drink that are 100 % organic, and they can also request vegetarian. This is all in keeping with the BIO-Hotels association, to which Sonnenhausen belongs.
For corporate seminars, Gut Sonnenhausen has seven different conference rooms available that are all equipped with modern technology and are suitable for members’ meetings, conferences with work groups, board meetings, etc. Special team courses like “Gartenküche” (outdoor kitchen), where together people harvest, prepare and enjoy vegetables and salad from the fields, are becoming increasingly popular.
The only remarks I have: yoga mats should be of better quality, there should be a proper yoga and meditation room, the meeting rooms in the former stables - with wooden floors - crack when you walk on them which is disturbing when you talk, and sometimes the food - although of very good quality and very fresh - can be somewhat too alternative for people who are not used to the bio/organic principles.
