It was a nice stay.
The price-performance ratio is great. Rooms are very clean and tidy.
Also the area is very nice and you can go hiking great.
Breakfast can be enjoyed in a very nice ambience in the castle in the large hall and use the wellness area. We felt very comfortable.

The country house Purschenstein was reopened on May 14, 2026. This is still announced in the surrounding area by various advertising posters, and in the main building "Schloss Purschenstein," they also refer to the country house located on the access road to the castle.
To our astonishment, we had to realize on the evening of our arrival on May 23, 2026, that only nine days after the opening of the house, neither the cook nor the staff seemed to have any desire for their jobs. We had dinner there and rarely experienced such poor service along with a complete lack of "culinary skill."
That a table might not be wiped down, okay, that can happen; that one might wait longer for service, that too; that the waiter serves food at really all (!!) tables and generally has no cutlery with him, for which we had to wait another five minutes, is almost bordering on refusal to work.
However, the fact that on our plates and as we later heard from other guests, not only with us, the salad garnish must have been from the opening day, was quite disgusting.
Rotten tomato, slimy cucumber, fried potatoes that were burnt and at least from the day before yesterday, completely overcooked red cabbage...
The waiter, who was addressed about the rotten plate situation, simply left us with the question "Where?" He had no explanation ready, let alone an idea for improvement or even an apology or anything else. He left our half-full plates on the table and just walked away. About 15 minutes later, he then charged the full price, a total of €59, - that was it.
We were so surprised by the nature of this absolute disinterest and the complete lack of hospitality, it was an absolute novelty for us that we didn't even refuse to pay, let alone reduce the amount. What other guests did that evening by completely refusing to pay. We later all met again as guests of the castle hotel at the coach house - that was indeed a topic of discussion.
If the country hotel Purschenstein wants to stay open longer, then it is urgently necessary not only to retrain the staff but also to conduct food and kitchen hygiene training.
It is certainly not a showcase for the castle hotel.
