Comfortable home away from home

I stayed here for a total of 8 weeks over multiple business trips in 2016 and always felt comfortable and well cared for. The hotel does not have all amenities of a large city hotel but it makes up for that with small-city charm and character. There are many great restaurants within a short walk. Train station is 1 minute walk and city trolley stop is 30 seconds from front door.
Rooms do not have AC but even in July/August rooms were not excessively hot. Not all rooms have refrigerators but ask and they will move one to your room. Not all rooms have bath tubs so ask if that is important to you. Beds and pillows were excellent condition. Wonderful breakfast!
If future business brings me to Nordhausen I will stay there again.

convenient for the stations

It is just across the forecourt from the DB and narrow gauge steam railway stations, although you can't hear the trains. It is clean and comfortable, even if in some respects it has seen better days. There is no restaurant, but there is a "pizza pub" next door for a something to eat. The eight minute walk to the next decent restaurant, the "Due Angeli" , is worth it.
Quietness rating: quiet overnight until the morning when, being on the station square, there is some urban coming and going such as buses and trams.

Best location in Nordhausen

This hotel is perfectly located just across the railway station and the bus and tram stop. A small shopping centre and supermarket is just across the street. The hotel is clean and provides simple amenities. The breakfast is continental with a suitable range of items. The only main issue with this hotel is the very poor quality of the WiFi internet. It is very slow, even by developing world standards.

Basic hotel but well located

The Handelshof is an unprentious hotel just opposite the Nordhausen train station. My room was almost Spartan, but the Wi-Fi worked, I slept well and the breakfast was adequate. The staff are not fluent in English, but they are friendly and helpful.

Very comfortable and friendly

We didn't know what to expect from this 3 star as we usually stay in 4 star hotels but there were none in this smaller community. The service was very friendly, and room was very clean and neat. The breakfast was included and quite expansive and served on the top floor with a nice view.
