Great place to stay!

I used to travel and stay there many times when I traveled in Germany. The B&B is very welcoming and friendly. I totally recommend this place. I stayed there many times from 1998 to 2007, and the adjoining restaurant has the BEST food.

Disappointing

Firstly this is not a hotel by British standards it is a B&B. After breakfast the place shuts down and you can't get anything to drink or eat until. 6.30pm and have to go out. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room or any vending machines. There is no residents lounge apart from a few chairs in reception. The place is situated on a busy main road and close to a church which has bells ringing 1 every quarter past the hour, two every half past the hour, 3 every quarter to the hour and 4 on the hour followed by the actual number of the hour, 24 hours a day. The situation is also not ideal and would be better to stay in Oberammergau where there is more to do or ideally at a higher altitude up the alps where you are more likely to get snow. The rooms were basic, ok but as the room is very warm you need the window open and the noise of traffic and bells is annoying. They also have very soft American pillows which were not to our liking and felt you were fighting with a huge marsh mallow all night. Food was just OK. The owners were really nice and friendly but not hoteliers. Having had amazing Christmases in Austria and Switzerland in the past we felt a bit disappointed.

Christmas trip

Booked through Newmarket travel. Organisation excellent, two Josef, wonderful. Hotel attractive however - on arrival marble steps to negotiate to reception then more steps to rooms. No lift, no porter. For older people , some with mobility problems, this was not acceptable. Rooms ok but service really poor. No tea/coffee making in rooms, nowhere in hotel to buy one. When asked staff VERY grudgingly "might" help but most guests put off from asking. Breakfast (continental) good. No menu provided for dinner, no choice offered. Soup every night, sometimes followed by salad, then main not often with vegetables. Cheap desserts. Bar In dinner restaurant, only staffed at that time.
In our opinion this hotel does not deserve four stars, it is barely a three, would not recommend it.

Lovely Stay

Travelled as part of a group over Christmas and had a lovely time here. Good value for money, rooms are spacious and well maintained and in general the food was good. Staff very pleasant and happy to help. Overall thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

Superb and charming!

Beautiful, homey, clean place to stay. The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast was just perfect. Every little touch—from the flower lamps and curtains, to the sauna, to the little bedside radios playing local music—was so charming. Stunning views of the Alps! I highly recommend (and will be back!)
