A Restful Stay and Unbelievable Breakfast

I am a performer from NYC who comes to Oldenburg a couple of times a year to write, relax, and take in the rich artistic offerings of the city. Hotel Tafelfreuden is the perfect place to stay: a charming boutique hotel with comfortable rooms, an indulgent charcuterie-style breakfast, attentive staff, and two incredibly kind owners. My partner stayed with me, as well, and we found both the hotel and the city to be thoroughly welcoming to a queer couple. I cannot recommend it enough and am so looking forward to my next stay.

overpriced and not suitable for children

We stayed in the rooms above the hotel restaurant, entered by their own door. The rooms were pleasant and well provided, with a good cooking hob and living area. However the curtains were too thin in the bedroom, so let in all the light and non-existent in the living area which had a sofa-bed and was meant to double as a second bedroom. The sofa-bed was the most uncomfortable, lumpy thing I've had the misfortune to try and sleep on. The hotel had forgotten we had requested a cot for our 15 month old, and proceeded to charge us an extra 9 euros a night for this 'luxury' item. Breakfast, at 20 euros per head, was also massively over-priced and underwhelming.

Triste greier! Ikke verdt prisen!

Vi kom hit for å oppleve restauranten. Den var stengt for oppussing. Vi var de eneste gjestene på hotellet, og traff ingen betjening før ved frokosten. Den var forøvrig grei, men heller ikke mer. Altfor dyrt, bare for å sove. Sengen var desverre også unødvendig hard.

Nettes Hotel in zentraler Lage

Das Hotel liegt nur ca. 15 Gehminuten vom Zentrum entfernt. Die Zimmer sind in gewisser Weise charmant, wenn man knarzende Fußböden mag ;-) Alles sauber, das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und zum Frühstück gibt es auch ein frisch gekochtes Ei, wenn man mag. Mein Zimmer lag zur Straßenseite und es war trotzdem sehr ruhig, dank der doppelten Fenster. Der Blick auf den Friedhof mag für den einen verstörend sein, für den anderen beruhigend.
Insgesamt habe ich mich hier sehr wohl gefühlt und würde auch ein erneutes Mal wieder kommen.

ein Wochenende im Hotel Tafelfreuden

Zimmer: befriedigend - sozusagen "alles in Ordnung" aber nicht überraschend gut.
Service: befriedigend (es wäre schön, wenn eine Ersatzrolle Toilettenpapier bereitgestellt würde ... !)
Lage: das Hotel liegt an einer stark befahrenen Straße. Kurze Wege in die Innenstadt. Busstation direkt vor dem Hotel, der Bahnhof ist zu Fuß erreichbar (ca. 15 Min. Gehweg).
Allerdings ... Das Hotel sollte sich entscheiden, ob sie lieber Party-/Disco-Gäste haben will, oder ggf. wiederkehrende Hotelgäste ! Am Abend vom 14.10.-15.10.2017 "tobte" die Party mit "dum, dum, dum"-Lärm bis ca. drei Uhr morgens ! Und diese "Geräusche" waren im Zimmer wirklich gut zu hören !!!
Frühstück: befriedigend, es gibt das "übliche". Wenn das Abendessen / das Restaurant als gut bis sehr gut eingestuft werden kann, dann ist das Frühstück davon sehr weit entfernt !
Fazit: es gibt sicherlich bessere, ggf. preiswerte Unterkünfte mit weniger nächtlichem Lärm in Oldenburg.
