Lovely Hotel

The Steinbach Hotel is a lovely place with old world charm. Our room was located at the back of the hotel with Mountain Views. There was a large bedroom and a lovely sitting room with two couches and a flat screen TV. The bathroom had double sinks, a stand up shower and heated tile floors. Everything was very clean. We also had a private outdoor patio. Daily breakfast was very good. We enjoyed the dinner buffet one evening. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. The lobby has a fireplace and seating to relax with a coffee or cocktail. We arrived to Ruhpolding by train and the hotel provided transportation from the station. We stayed 6 enjoyable nights. I highly recommend the Steinbach Hotel.

In the beautiful Ruhpolding...

...is this family-run hotel. I was staying in a double room, overlooking the ski slope behind the house. The hotel is ideal for activities in the area due to its location. I had booked accommodation and breakfast. The breakfast buffet is very well stocked. Only in the breakfast room is there a strange table distribution. 90% of all tables are reserved for half board guests who show up between 7:00 and 10:00. Even unreserved tables are harshly defended by the staff. So it happened that only the third table of the lady that I targeted seemed suitable for me. Furthermore, in the breakfast room, a compressor buzzes uncomfortably loud. Take a seat. In the quieter rooms next door is unfortunately not possible due to the table politics. Otherwise I felt very comfortable, swimming pool and sauna I did not use. At the breakfast table you will receive a note every day offering special features of the region and day trips organised by the hotel. This is a plus especially for inexperienced guests. I can imagine visiting that hotel anytime for a long weekend again. Even without half board there would be the possibility to participate in the evening menu, but I did not use this.

Service had waned!

Unfortunately, there was no fresh fruit salad for breakfast, as in previous years, but only from the can... Pity!

Great stay- gladly again!

Nice, cozy and above all very family - and child-friendly hotel!
We stayed three nights, had a nice, spacious room and a really great new bathroom with wooden tiles and glass shower.
Our room was located to the directly adjacent ski and toboggan slope, a magnificent spectacle outside the window:)
Sauna area and swimming pool very nice, wonderfully warm water, especially in the hot tub.
Food very varied, breakfast in buffet form, with eggs, cereal, cake, fruit, fruit salad, yogurts, sausages in hot water pot and of course a wide variety of cakes with cheese and sausage (also salmon on Sundays).
Dinner also great, selection of salad and antipasti as well as every dayan appetizer and soup. Various hot dishes to choose from, also extra dishes for kids (nuggets deliciously crisp fries).
Dessert was served, Bavarian cream and mousse au chocolat - best :)
Free parking around the house, ski cellar everything there.
Ruhpolding center / train station reachable on foot comfortably in 10 min.

Booked as replacement accommodation for a last minute hotel cancellation in the Bavarian Forest.

We booked the Hotel Steinbach as a replacement accommodation for the Bavarian Forest in the second week of December. The hotel is located on a busy branch of the German Alpine Road. The Ruhpolding for spa delivery advertises with "Luftkurort" is a joke. Thousand heated roofs in valley position and a lot of regional and supra-regional traffic. My county town is Limburg, the national red lantern at the car exhausts. Comparable. Before I go into the hotel: You can't pin the criticism on the staff. Nevertheless, things were different as usual/expected. On day 2 we had a discussion with the house management why we wanted to use the stairs with our dogs (which were relevant for booking). We had called before booking and asked for terrace rooms. We stated this as requested when booking. When we checked in we wondered about a room on the ground floor and were ignored with the demand. And the only way to get there is through the stairs. When shaken awake, you then look for the second escape route. The emergency lights are not visible in the hallway. I didn't find a rescue plan that week. The food was all good taste (praise to the chef). Breakfast offered little variety. The glasses for the O-juice reminded me of liqueur glasses. If you want to fill the plate of a bus full of pensioners at the buffet then it takes time. Sauerkraut then ran out. The Griesnoggerl soup has appeared 3 times on the menu (was still good!). The hotel itself is getting old. The door jammed. It was my job. Rooms were cleaned daily. Putting the empty wipes and toilet paper roll on the toilet lid was not enough as an indication for refilling. With 3 stars, I would have let all this pass without comment. These 4 stars are based on crosses in an Excel spreadsheet. That's my impression. Was thus our first and last visit to Ruhpolding.
