This family-run, 3-star hotel is situated in the town of Sohren, in the scenic countryside of the Hunsrück region of Rhineland-Palatinate, just 6 km from Frankfurt Hahn Airport. Hotel Schinderhannes offers cosy en suite rooms with all standard modern amenities, including complimentary wireless internet access. Wine and dine in the rustic cavern restaurant, the Schinderhanneshöhle, and try the delicious Hunsrück specialities on the menu. Relax in the hotel spa facilities, consisting of a sauna, solarium and fitness equipment (a treadmill and exercise bike). Pamper yourself with a massage. The hotel can arrange a transfer from/to the nearby Hahn Airport. Guests with cars can park for free at Hotel Schinderhannes. Please note the reception is only open until 21:00 on Sundays. Excellent alternative to eating at Hann Airport
The village and shops were amazing,but that will be the subject of a seperate review!
We were recommended to eat at the Hotel Schinderhannes, which we were assured was one of the best restaurants in the town. It turned out to be a very authentic and rustic building, both warm and welcoming. The decor was excellent and very reminiscent of similar hunting lodges in the French Alps. Although it was two weeks before Christmas, and they were fully booked out, the owner made provision for us in the bar area. The menu was very adequate, with a nod to it's roots with the wild boar and venison burgers. This accompanied by a large plate of gorgeous chips very much hit the spot for us, and was miles away from any of the airport offerings.
Prices were moderate, and if you have some time to spare at Hann, make this your restaurant of choice!!

Good base for day trips to the Mosel, the Rhine, Trier and Luxembourg
The hotel is comfortable but not luxurious. The breakfast was excellent, and the staff friendly. The restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday except for breakfast.

Just a short taxi drive from Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (about $11 Euro)

I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Curious how it would be after all those years, it felt disappointing on my last visit. My last visit.
