Medieval flair and comfortable living

It is a well-preserved castle that combines the modern and the old.
The bathroom and the sauna area are of a high standard. There is even a small fitness room with modern equipment and two massage chairs.
The rooms are unique, old with modern aspects. The absolute quiet is worth highlighting.
We had half-board, which was perfectly fine, because there is nothing in the immediate vicinity.
Unfortunately, there is no longer any water around the castle. You can park in front of the castle. I would not recommend it for people in wheelchairs or with walking difficulties. It is, after all, a centuries-old castle with cobblestones and stone stairs.
We personally liked it a lot.
We found the tablecloths in the restaurant's outdoor lighting area to be a slight drawback. They did not always look appetizing.

Fantastic

Everything perfect. Sauna, restaurant, breakfast was delicious! Environment, the price, the mattress was quite comfortable. Highly recommended.

Clients unbiased review

One of my clients stayed here and loved every moment. The history of the hotel is impressive, owned at one time by Napoleon, to witch trials being held on the grounds. The area is quiet and the staff is friendly and the food is delectable, this was one of the only facilities that served a Schwarzwalder Kirsch torte (this is not an American German Chocolate cake).
The hotel swimming pool is approximately 4 feet deep and is not heated. It is extremely refreshing.
The biggest downfall that my client stated was that one could not park ones car near the rooms but one could drive within the castle walls to drop off ones luggage. Parking is free at a lot just across the moat bridge. There is also little cafe just outside the walls.
Overall this would be a location that my client would love to go back to.

Relaxing stay

The castle itself is impressive, with quite some older unused space. The location is quiet and beautiful. The room we had was spacious and clean. The spa was clean and okay. People are friendly. However, the service is not very flexible when it comes to dinner and wellness times. At 9 pm the kitchen was closed and we were supposed to leave. Because of corona there was no possibility to enjoy lunch. A nice experience, but not as luxurious as we expected.
