Warm Islandic hospitality

With an orange weather warning just hours away we were looking for somewhere safe to shelter in our campervan. We were in Stykkisholmur, 90 minutes drive away but SO glad we did... Rebecca gave us her heartfelt promise she'd look after us whatever happened to the weather. The alert ended up lasting 3 days so she put us up in the hotel at a reasonable price. It wasn't what we had planned but we encountered real Islandic hospitality that we wouldn't otherwise have done, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, including helping her cook banana bread for the other guests!

Excellent service and beautiful location!

The hotel is in a stunning location and benefits from a geothermal pool and hot pool. There is also a terrific games room with pool, darts, table tennis and games ideal for kids. The staff went far and beyond our expectations and made us all feel very welcome.! There is also a camp ground too and many walks to explore all directly from the hotel.

Stay and service were disappointing.

Two positive points: the hotel is located halfway between Reykjavik and the West Fjords. The common areas are comfortably furnished with taste. The rooms are small and very poorly soundproofed. The size of the shower cabin limits all movement. Be sure to keep your elbows close to your body while shampooing. We were denied access to the outdoor pool, as the lifeguard was absent that day. Since when are hotel pools monitored 24 hours a day? However, a couple of guests were happily swimming there. Eventually, we were able to join them along with the cleaning robot. Its presence was welcome. The changing rooms and showers need a thorough renovation. The dinner served was "okay," the breakfast was true to its strict definition. No tablecloths, the sugar was in a bowl, dampened by coffee spoons, tasteless sliced cheese and sausage... the pre-cut bananas were blackened... The reality differs greatly from the presentation on the website. Too much amateurism for €330.00 per night (excluding dinner).

This is a unique property in an area that is quite remote. The building is in good repair and our room was clean. There are 5 stairs to descend into the lobby but there is a side door I believe you could use if needed. Our request for a first floor room was honored. The pool is attached to the hotel; in order to get to it there are a number of stairs you need to go down. You can however drive to the parking lot in the front of the pool area to avoid stairs. The pool is also the area's town pool, and there is a community meeting space and gymnasium as well. If you're from the US, think YMCA. I accidentally crashed a local family's confirmation party for their son by wandering in from the hotel and they could not have been kinder. The pool is closed for some hours in the middle of the day. The hot pot area is only a few steps from the hotel right off the parking lot. The changing room hut is clean and well appointed. The hiking trails just off the parking lot are scenic. The game room is large and would be a great place to hang out on a rainy day. A kettle in a common space would be a welcome addition, or in the rooms. There is no readily available place to get a tea or coffee that I could discern other than the restaurant attached to the hotel, which I did not explore but was a fairly pricy place, not unusual for Iceland.

A little paradise between waterfall, spa and wonderful people

We stayed at this campsite a few days ago while travelling in our small van, and honestly, we couldn’t have found a better place. There is a beautiful free hot spring made of stones right next to the waterfall — an unforgettable experience. The hotel itself is charming, with a magical living room full of instruments to play, including a piano and guitars, creating such a warm and special atmosphere. There are also lovely spaces to relax, enjoy a massage, take hot showers, and have breakfast with an amazing view. And we still can’t stop thinking about the delicious coca biscuits the massage chair! But the very best part of all was the people who run this place — kind, welcoming, and truly wonderful. We were genuinely sorry that we couldn’t stay longer.

We stayed at this campsite a few days ago during our trip with our little van and, honestly, we could not have found a better place.
There is a beautiful free hot spring built with stones right next to the waterfall: an unforgettable experience. The hotel is lovely, with a magical stay filled with musical instruments to play, including piano and guitars, creating a warm and special atmosphere. There are also beautiful spaces to relax, enjoy a massage, take hot showers and have breakfast with a wonderful view. And we still can't stop thinking about the delicious coke cookies and the massage chair!
But the most beautiful thing of all are the people who run this place: kind, welcoming and really wonderful. We sincerely regretted that we could not stay longer.
