Charming Guest House in good location on Harmisar Lake, top price

We had a very simple but pleasant room with bathroom for 800 Rp. You can sit in the courtyard and have breakfast.
The boss here is Abdullatif Sonara and he once lived in Tanzania for a long time. The cook Nilofa makes breakfast and is warm, motherly, wise and has really the peace away. Every day she sits totally relaxed and happy in the courtyard, reading Qur'anic verses and listening to lectures on her mobile phone.
Overall, everything here is old and old but clean and charming. The only drawback: the mattresses are a bit hard.
Located 10 minutes from Harmisar Lake. A lake with a really nice promenade and the small Khengar Park. We walked around the lake and discovered the small Satyanarayan Hindu temple with colored god figures and murals.

Go for location and price stay for the vibe

Great value and location close to all attractions, WIFI slightly erratic.Shower cold though oddly hot water available via tap.Basic food available, though annoyingly no Indian breakfast on offer, toast and omelette were fine however. Room on the dark side though spacious enough, fan worked in my room and the area was relatively quiet at night. The highlight was a nice courtyard and the 2 gentlemen that run it who were pleasant and quite laidback and calm. Toilet paper would have been nice.

Gold rings stolen from my backpack

Unfortunately a very bad fact happened in this guesthouse in my experience. I left some days to Lakpath and the owner invited me to keep my luggage in a storage room which was not locked by key. When I came back someone had stolen me my gold rings from my backpack. Even more sad it's that when I informed them, the owners denied that it could happen in their guesthouse (when of course the rings were stolen there because I perfectly remember them the morning I left the guesthouse for few days). All the men of the family together started to blame me because I was telling them about that stealing. Without listening my reason, saying that I was a crazy woman. I have even tried to talk them in a calm manner, but then I could not but literally run away. Of course if they reacted like that it's because something was not clear and they were scared.
So all their kindness has nothing human, it's merely business and their behaviour is not fair.
May they face themselves in their intimate consciousness.

Can’t recommend

Rock hard beds and pillow, peeling paint, damp bathroom with erratic hot water, lacklustre staff. I was exhausted after three nights here. I’ve stayed here in years back and unfortunately it has gone downhill with lack of maintainence. You only get hot water after 8am, and if the staff remember to light a fire to heat the water (no geyser in the room). So no hot water to shower after a day of dusty sightseeing. Only eggs and toast available for breakfast. I give it a couple of points for having a nice rooftop view (but no seating) and a good location near the bazaar.
