Fabulous hotel in amazing location
We ended up staying one night here whilst travelling from Chennai to Kochi and it proved to be a perfect stop off. The hotel is set in woodland just on the edge of Thekkady and the room we were in was located across a lit garden with a balcony view across the trees and walkways and we could observe monkeys and birds. We were welcomed by a very enthusiastic and friendly hotel owner and our bags were carried to our room whilst we enjoyed a welcome complimentary soft drink. The Kathkali theatres for which we had a ticket for, are located a short walk away and we really enjoyed the show and then had the opportunity to do gift shopping in the multitude of late night shops including a value supermarket. There was also a really great bar restaurant called The Moose and Malt which stopped off at for very reasonable and delicious snacks and a great vibe. The room itself was perfect, clean and with beautiful hand painted sea murals on the walls, murals and art were everywhere in the hotel and this really added to the charm and overall loveliness of the hotel. The hotel was all run along ecological including recycling of rainwater and use of composting. There was no room kettle but there were sachets of coffee and a selection of locally produced tea and a flask of boiling water was placed on pur doorstep at 6am so we could make a hot drink. Breakfast was homemade bread, fruit and a choice of cooked foods all served with thr friendly and enthusiastic staff. The other really great thing about this hotel is the rooftop lounge complete with small swimming pool where we were able to relax and watch the sun go down and the moon come up over the trees whilst the busy town bustled away in the distance.

Good comfortable hotel.
Good Hotel with good staff and great helpful owner always available to give advice with a smiling face.
Clean comfortable room, with nice balcony overlooking the tranquil garden.
Good breakfast.
Watch out for the cheeky monkeys.

Keralan hospitality at its best
Chrissie’s was a very refreshing reminder for us of great service.
This is a small, smart, clean hotel run by local people with years’ of experience taking care of visitors to Periyar Wildlife Reserve and to Kerala in general.
Thanks to Adel, Anthony and team our stay was impeccable. We had a treetop balcony with close-up views of visiting wildlife and a very comfortable room. Our meals were delicious, and the atmosphere in every way was warm, social and welcoming. Any time we asked for help or advice with safari and travel arrangements, they were on it. We did as much as we could in 3 full days and saw Keralan hospitality at its best.
As ever, it all went by too quickly. So if you’re exploring options for Periyar and want the best advice as you travel around, look no further.

Highlight of our trip
By far the best stay during our trip through India! A friend and I stayed here for three nights in total with a short break for an overnight stay in Periyar National Park. The hotel has everything you want: Nice rooms with individual artwork in every single one, balconies with a beautiful view in the garden/forest of the hotel (especially beautiful on the third floor), a pool, a very good Indian/Italian restaurant, yoga classes, the list goes on. But what makes this place really unique and an unforgettable experience are the heartwarmingly kind and welcoming people, who put so much effort in making the stay so special. We got help with any kind of question like visa, preparation for the Periyar Hike, train tickets and recommandations for Kumily and also they organised a surprise birthday reception and a delicious cake for my friends birthday when we returned from the National Park. Cannot thank you enough! Kindest regards to the A-Team and the rest of the wonderful people at Chrissies :)
