Outstanding
We were just passing through to Slovenia, and the decision turned out to be an absolute stroke of luck. Super friendly staff, a tidy and clean room, and above all, an excellent restaurant. We booked half board, which we can only recommend to everyone. The menu was exquisite, the same goes for breakfast. There was actually nothing that was missing.
Overall, a clear recommendation.

Spring Skiing
Good and quiet location still need a car or a skibus to get to slopes. Friendly staff, in-room equipment and furnishings are ok but not more than that, nevertheless it is fully made up with the food - we were staying on a half board package, and both breakfast selection and dinner menus and quality were great for accomodation of this type. Overall, I would certainly recommend Scheffer's to anyone looking for the accomodation in Altenmarkt.

nice dinner
We came unexpectedly and needed some dinner table. Hotel management arranged a table, separately and we enjoyed a famous Wiener Schnitzel with an excellent house wine. Service was very friendly and the same when we came back a few days later.

Wonderful hotel
I and my husband have stayed at this hotel several times and are always sad to have to leave. The hotel is very well looked after and the rooms are a delight, comfortable, clean and spacious. It has an indoor pool which is well looked after and a lawned area with sun loungers. The breakfast is good with a vast choice but, dinner here is exceptional and would rival many a top class restaurant. This is a good area for walking, cycling or just relaxing with nice shops, cafes and restaurants nearby.

The wedding of a lifetime at a GREAT hotel with incredible service
When we first received the invitation to our nephew's wedding in the Austrian Alps on top of a ski slope we were excited. When we heard the bride and groom and whomever else were snowboarding/skiing down after the ceremoney we were intrigued.
We immediately contacted Scheffers for our room as we knew we couldn't miss out on celebrating with Johan and Hanna this big day.
I was in charge of planning the dinner for the "hens' night" and contacted the hotel for suggestions. Petra was amazing and answered emails lightening fast with really great, helpful information. (We ate at de Perdu in Flachau and loved it).
We arrived and met Petra in person who was just as personable, service minded and friendly as via email. We had a two room suite so my son and his cousin who flew in from Sweden could have someplace to call their own.
Firstly, the breakfasts are wonderful and complete. Now that we are home, we all miss them terribly.
The dinner we had was very good and they have a full bar as well. I wish there was no smoking allowed in the lobby area but we're not in California anymore.
Petra and her team helped plan the wedding service and reception. Anything she assisted with went perfectly and what she didn't experienced som problems. She told me that form here on out she will plan the entire event herself.
Mr. Scheffer video taped the activites and it was so well done. He gave copies to the bride's parents which was so thoughtful. The reception was amazingly prepared and served (and I understand reasonably priced). There were even fireworks afterwards. The DJ they recommended was really good.
I would HIGHLY recommend Scheffers for your stay during your ski holidays or during the summer. Why not have a wedding/party/seminar there as they are totally set up for that.
The spa was really a nice touch as well. How cool to be sitting in heated chairs overlooking the snow.
I must say however, that we ate many places in the Altenmarkt area and was astounded at how often extra beer, fees and even entire meals were on our bill when we went to pay. Every single place we went to charged for extra charges. Many charged what was called "plate charges" which was for the plate and utensils we understand. I think it would be similar to a hotel charging a "bed" charge. Is it possible to eat in a restaurant without plates and utensils. Why charge a separate fee except to "hide" it when people check out the menu. Two restaurants actually charged for an additional full meal. One said it was the "plate charges" totally E25 and another said one of the 20 men must have ordered two meals since the waitress came out with 21 meals. How logical would it be that the mistake came from someone ordering two full meals than the waitress making an error. We begrudgingly paid but would have questioned harder if this was at the end of the trip when we realized that the local eateries routinely charged extra hoping guests wouldn't notice. Many places also do not take credit card and two of the stores that did said their "system was broken". Very frustrating. Also, I bought two items for my daughter and son thinking they would fit under their ski helmet but they didn't. My husband returned them the next morning and was told they didn't allow returns. He argued and threatened to stay in their store until a refund was given and finally was given one. The merchants in Altenmarkt better get it together or there will be no tourist business here.
My suggestion is to ASK about extra fees such as plate charges and check your bill carefully.
But again, we had NO negative issues at Scheffers whatsoever! It was a wonderful hotel. We flew into Munich and if possible it's best to fly into Salzburg as it is much closer and has a train to and from.
