Design Hotel Miramonte

The hotel is calm and in a quiet location with a beautiful view of the city of Bad Gastein as well as the valley. Amazing to have a balcony with those views. The city center is still in walking distance in 10-15 minutes which is great.
I didnt use the spa/sauna area, only saw it and I wouldn’t go to this hotel for the spa area, but for the ambience and restaurant/common areas and views.

Shabby-chic hotel with more shabby than chic.
Right upon arrival we thought to ourselves "oh no." The exterior facade is very run-down and old. Inside it then got a bit better. It mixes very old with new elements. Yes, that is their supposed style, but the "old" is too much of a good thing. On the terrace broken boards, worn-out armchairs. The rooms were better, but here too very old elements - too much of a good thing. Here it is more shabby than chic. The wellness area is small but okay. The restaurant is also quite nice. The breakfast was very delicious. The location is very beautiful and very quiet. The rooms were comfortable despite the heat. Overall it was okay, but I would not come again. I cannot for the life of me understand why the hotel is praised so highly. Not a 4-star hotel.

vielen Dank, dass Sie sich die Zeit genommen haben, Ihre Eindrücke mit uns zu teilen. Es freut uns sehr, dass Ihnen unser leckeres Frühstück, die schöne, ruhige Lage, das angenehme Raumklima in den Zimmern sowie unser Restaurant und der Wellnessbereich positiv in Erinnerung geblieben sind.
Gleichzeitig bedauern wir natürlich, dass unser architektonisches Konzept Ihre Erwartungen nicht ganz erfüllen konnte. Das Hotel Miramonte ist ein Haus mit Geschichte – ein Original der 1950er-Jahre. Unser Design-Ansatz ist es ganz bewusst, diese historische Seele und die authentische Patina des Gebäudes zu erhalten und mit zeitlosem Mid-Century-Modernismus zu verbinden. Wir verstehen sehr gut, dass dieser unkonventionelle Design-Stil, der sich bewusst von der klassischen, oft sterilen Kettenhotellerie abhebt, Geschmackssache ist.
Dennoch nehmen wir Ihre Hinweise zu den Holzdielen auf der Terrasse und den abgenutzten Details sehr ernst. Stilvolle Patina soll niemals mit mangelnder Instandhaltung verwechselt werden – daran arbeiten wir kontinuierlich, um die Balance für unsere Gäste perfekt zu halten.

was für eine wunderbare Rückmeldung – wir haben beim Lesen richtig Gänsehaut bekommen! Genau das ist es, was das Miramonte ausmacht: Diese magischen Momente am langen Gemeinschaftstisch, wenn aus Fremden Freunde werden und die Gespräche bis tief in die Nacht dauern.
Es macht uns glücklich zu hören, dass du dieses „Eingebettetsein“ bei uns so spürst und den Melting Pot Bad Gastein so genießt. Dass du immer wieder zu uns zurückkehrst, ist für uns das schönste Kompliment. Stylish spa hotel but not for committed skiers
However, as part of the 'vibe' (apparently) there was no TV service anywhere, (despite what the hotel website claims), which - when as with so many resorts this winter - the snow closed in and it was not possible to ski, not being able to watch the winter Olympics was a real downer when there was nothing else to do.
The ski shuttle bus is the only realistic way to get to the only remaining lift station (the Graukogel was closed permanently in November 2025, thanks for telling us before we forked out E1250 for three passes, resort managers) and was regularly booked up as soon as it was put up in reception.
Spa facilities are good with a fine masseuse available.
Our rooms were clean, spacious and very clean, BUT - perhaps a deal breaker for the Brits - had no tea / coffee making facilities!
Apres- ski tea was soup and cake BUT I have never stayed in a hotel that does not offer free hot drinks to wash it down. E3.50 for a pot of hot water and a teabag? I mean, really?
In summary: I would stay here again, but as a spa break with a bit of skiing attached rather than for a ski holiday.
For several reasons, however, I would not recommend Bad Gastein as a full-on ski resort.

We are sorry to hear that the weather conditions during your stay limited the skiing experience. While our shuttle takes guests to the closest lift station, there are actually several additional lift access points across the valley within about 10–20 minutes, which together form the wider ski area. Our team is always happy to help guests plan the best options depending on conditions.
Regarding the TV service, all rooms are equipped with televisions; however, we understand your disappointment about not being able to follow the Olympics during your stay and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
Thank you also for your notes about tea and coffee facilities and the après-ski drinks – guest feedback like yours helps us continually review our offer.

Great food, rooms, spa, breakfast and cool-vibe!
Hotel Miramonte is such cool vibe hotel, but the best part is definitley the staff. All of them super welcoming and helpful. Views and location are out of this world, especially in the snowy winter days. We had great time, breakfast is different and really creative, huge selection, the is quiet nice spa area and cute bar. Also big heated storage for your skiing equiptment. The hotel provided pick up and drop off to the entrence of the skilift so there is no need to use car, simply amazing, also after day of skiing you are welcomed with daily soup and cake, what can I say more! Biggest possible recomondation for me :*
