Very nice place right on the slopes, highly recommended for families!!
Indoor and outdoor pool, well tempered, with wide giant slide, large sauna and relaxation area, as well as family sauna! Mini Falkyland, Falkyland with supervision and the teen Falkyland with climbing wall and games inspire all kids in addition to pool tables and Nintendo Switch on TV. Live music, magicians, families Apres Ski, Falky Disco, torchlight hike etc. as well as yoga sessions and much more is offered. Culinary there is a varied and very large buffet every day, very good cuisine!! The entire hotel team around the Luca and Meike management are very attentive, friendly and always looking after the well-being of their guests! We would love to come back!!l

Falkensteiner Sonnalpe with two boys and a dog.
The reception was mediocre, as our rooms were swapped with our acquaintances. They also knew nothing about our dog, even though I had specifically inquired about it a week prior.
Afterward, we finally received our room keys. Unfortunately, we were given the wrong room number, so my wife stood in front of the wrong room. Unfortunately, there are far too few parking spaces around the hotel, so I parked the first night a few hundred meters away on the main road.
Regarding the restaurant: It is usually a disappointment for us. A lot of frozen or pre-packaged products. It resembles more of a cafeteria. And when there was something really good, there was not really a suitable side dish.
Since I cannot eat butter, I asked for Lätta/margarine at breakfast. On the first day, I received a piece that was almost frozen. On the second day, they said they did not have any.
All the drinks were only syrup-based, which was undrinkable. Beer and water were available.
You had to take your own plates. Here, most of the new plates were dirty or wet!
For the children/boys aged 7 and 5, however, it was great. They enjoyed the indoor world. Also, the gaming station between the bar and pool area was nice.
Room cleaning was always just okay. The old glasses were only taken away after request.
The staff at the bar was really on the ball, and everything went quickly here.
Unfortunately, the pool area was way too small. It was completely overcrowded, and we never got lounge chairs.
However, the area was great for hiking. You could just head out right away.
At the reception, there was also a younger man with curly hair, who was also great and on the ball!
Overall, we would not come back. There are similar hotels with much more value for the money!

Vacation compromised by incorrect information and negligence.
We arrived at the Falkensteiner Sonnenalpe expecting a relaxing family vacation, but the experience was compromised from the very first day by truly disappointing management.
Due to a closed road just before arrival, we had to take a long detour, extending the trip by about an hour and a half. This can happen. What is unacceptable is what happened afterward.
At the reception, we were given incorrect shuttle times twice. Following the information received, we organized the afternoon without knowing that the cable car closed at 4:30 PM. No one warned us, and we found ourselves stuck, forced to take a taxi to return, costing 50 euros. The taxi, by the way, did not accept cards.
In a hotel of this level, especially in a facility that hosts families and promotes the area as an experience, one would expect staff capable of providing correct and complete information about transportation, schedules, and closures. Instead, we wasted time, money, and peace of mind right on the first day of vacation.
The structure may be beautiful, but when the organization is so haphazard, the rest matters much less. A vacation should lighten the mood, not become a series of problems caused by incorrect information received at the front desk. Very disappointed.

Anche se cerchiamo sempre di fornire tutte le informazioni utili per il soggiorno dei nostri ospiti, purtroppo non siamo in grado di fornire tutti i cantieri che si presentano. A tal fine, ci affidiamo alle informazioni fornite pubblicamente in forma fisica e digitale dai comuni competenti e dalle autorità di costruzione stradale.
Naturalmente, dobbiamo informare correttamente sulle attrazioni locali e ci scusiamo molto se abbiamo dato consigli sbagliati. Saremmo grati se potesse farci sapere quando e da chi esattamente queste false informazioni sono state rilasciate, così da poterle riqualificare.

Fabulous stay
Thoroughly enjoyable stay up in the mountains, which was also helped by exceptionally good May weather - we had 5 days of blue skies and mid 20s temperatures. Apparently there had been significant snow as recently as mid May.
We arrived by train from Klagenfurt, with a transfer up the mountain from Hermagor Station costing 50 euros. See my review of the B&B hotel Klagenfurt to replicate our twin centre stay and see Lake Worthersee.
The hotel is lovely and located in the heart of Nassfeld that has several hotels, an Intersport and a few bars and cafes (mostly attached to hotels) that were just opening for the summer season.
Rooms were entirely comfortable. We had 510 and 511 (note only 1 level up from reception). Both had large double beds with two single bedding sets. The TV featured France 24 in English.
Food was great with a good choice at all meals. Hot and cold breakfast options, coffee machines, fresh juices etc. Lunch and dinner always featured soup, pizza, pasta and a choice of meat, fish and veg options.
There is an all inclusive drinks menu including Aperol, white rum, vodka, wines and beer. There are also slushes and alcohol free choices and self service water and juice stations. We had an allocated table for breakfast and dinner.
The local walking is great. We did multiple 5-7 mile ascents and routes around the local peaks. Use the Kamoot APP for detailed maps, but be mindful of the 'difficulty' rating - a 5 mile walk with steep climbs can take 4 hours.
The pools (interconnecting) are nice, but not massive (and quite shallow) and often busy. The saunas etc are designated naked.
The entertainment programme was fairly low key - we had bingo one night and a singer another night. There are two pool tables (2 euros per game). There are kids activities, including character 'Falky' photo opportunities, but our boys are now too old for that.
Staff were hard working and friendly (their name badges indicate languages spoken).
I'm struggling for negatives, but it's worth highlighting this is a family hotel so there were lots of children. Some might find the local area too remote / quiet, particularly as the summer season was just beginning. Our balcony deckchairs were also a bit weird and could only be used fully reclined.
The resort card gives free access to a couple of chairs lifts, but they were only open one day during our stay.
Our return transfer back to Klagenfurt airport was 220 Euros and took just less than an hour and a half.
Would not hesitate to return at some point in the future.

It's a shame...
Unfortunately, this was our first bad experience with Falkensteiner...we decided to have a DaySpa and asked for it by email and telephone if there are family saunas and children can then go to the sauna...yes, of course they can bring their children, there are even two family saunas...was told by the spa area (Nina) so...everything was wonderful until it was 4 pm...the sauna master came up to us and directed us with our children to the pool area, since from 4 pm no more children are allowed to stay in the Spaberich...after a conversation with *Nina*, she could remember me very well...she informed me that this is so and we have to leave the spa area...Moreover, the times would be on the homepage...!!!!! Great answer...and she couldn't tell us, after three phone calls and emails!!! Very unprofessional...we will not spend our holiday here due to this...!
