Unbeatable experience on school trip

Lately I have been to Hotel Winkler on a Vienna school trip.
The first thing was that I enjoyed was the hospitable service.Every time me and my roommates left the room, the cleaners immediately helped clean the room,The waitresses in the restaurant were friendly and they even taught us a few German phrases!
Next was the food, we had the buffet meals at the restaurant inside the hotel. The meat was tender, mashed potatoes were creamy and fruit always stayed fresh! The food was different every single day so you can always get a surprise.
Last is the atmosphere of the (family) room, the atmosphere inside felt warm and homey(we fought over the beds, we were scared of the bunk beds). I loved the yellow walls and the bunk beds were pretty safe and easy to climb. The bathroom was clean and tidy and the temperature of the water was easy to control.
Overall, I loved everything, from the atmosphere to the food everything was perfect.

Restaurant better than hotel

The hotel is centrally located on the main square. We stayed with friends over a long weekend there and all our rooms had a connecting door. You could hear every word of the neighbors, the door was like paper. The decor is very spartan, cozy goes differently. My single bed squeaked horribly. If you cannot find a parking space at the main square, you can use the parking garage (free exit ticket for guests).
Unlike the rooms, the hotel's restaurant scores points, which is very tastefully decorated and offers great food (and also a very fine breakfast).

Really good lunch!

My husband's schnitzel was one of the best he's ever eaten (and he has his faves in Vienna...) but the real surprise was the quality of the vegetarian and vegan offerings! A choice! I had the vegan millet carrot cakes and they were really delicious.
Inside they have a small larder of things to buy, I bought a yummy vegan muesli and there were also jams and honeys.
Apparently the chef has vegan children; those kids are lucky!

Convenient but nothing special

Functional rooms, don't expect Austrian charm. Only have single beds which when pushed together leave an uncomfortable gap.
Breakfast and dinner were OK, rather bland.
In town square within easy walking distance of train station, Brahms and railway museums.

Great place, good food, friendly environment

I have been here the third time and, again, it was a great, relaxing place to be. Good food, clean and nice rooms in a central location. It feels like being home far away ! ... a must stay place when you're in the area! ... great value for money!
