It’s a very beautiful city with a lot to see and to walk around town is the best choice if you want to see as much as you can, otherwise there are a lot of day trips you can take outside the city with train or buses.

Absolutely great service at the reception for guest requests.
Caroline from the reception implemented everything really well and with a lot of care.
Great service, and according to my friend, the room as well as the rest of the stay were also great.

Great for a weekend city break
Well if I’d read the reviews first I may not have chosen this hotel.
Did I regret it?
no it was great hotel for what we wanted.
What were we looking for?
As we didn’t hire a car we wanted a hotel on the main bus routes to the city and airport, 2 reasonably priced rooms, and breakfast.
Before arriving we received a request to check in online, a little unusual for a hotel I admit, but we do it all the time for flights without question. 2 days before we received PIN numbers to access the hotel and our rooms, no card keys to lose or have issues with and again it worked well.
After that the hotel emailed us travel passes for free public transport for the duration of our stay, this made getting from the airport to the hotel (13 mins by bus) a breeze, and once you figure out the bus app travel around Salzburg is easy.
As for the hotel, our 2 rooms were clean and comfortable, for use as a base for days out they were perfect, the 2 rooms were slightly different 1 had a wet room while the other had a separate shower, but both had large comfy beds. Both rooms had a kettle, & tea bags.
At breakfast the owner & staff were polite and informative, and the breakfast buffet was an immaculately laid out with a mix of breads, cold meats, cereals, etc.
Overall our impression is somewhat different from the other reviews, this might be because we just wanted somewhere quiet and comfortable to sleep after days out, we had a great time at Das Salz and would happily stay there again.
A few helpful points. Bus 2 stops at the airport, and bus stop 2 mins walk from the hotel.
Stern Brau is a great place to eat in the city, reservations are normally up to a month in advance, luckily they do have tables for walk in’s
Sporer(Liquor & Punch) is well worth a visit while you are here.
