Definitely worth a detour!

Nice, quiet hotel in ancient walls, small village, beautiful countryside, not far from the highway, ideal for an overnight stay in transit, but probably also for a longer stay with the family. Although we arrived on Sunday evenings and the kitchen was actually closed, the son of the hostel parents (and competent chef!) offered us the tastiest goulash ever, along with a tasty Burgenland red wine. The cheerful guests at the bar immediately welcomed us foreigners into their rounds and so we unexpectedly spent a wonderful evening in the Austrian Übelbach, which is not as bad as the name sounds.
But be careful: The inn is not for overstretched aesthetes and chic tourists with standard ideas of luxury and wellness. It rests on a solid tradition lived on. Not everything is true to style and some are unconventional. But it is authentic and the friendly Schwarzbauer family makes sure that you feel in good hands there.
Definitely felt very comfortable here in a large clean guest room with comfortable beds. And after a rich breakfast (thankfully without the usual 08/15 buffet) we could sleep well the next day and start the onward journey to the north stronger.
Even if it is a detour for you: It is definitely worth it to get to know this sympathetic inn.

einfach super

Wir waren schon dort als unser Sohn noch im Bauch war. Jetzt ist er fast 15 und wir freuen
uns immer wieder dort ein paar Tage zu verbringen.
Die herzliche Begrüssung, die ruhigen Zimmer, und, das Highlight, das exzelente Essen :

Lecker Schnitzel

Alter Gasthof mitten in Übelbach gelegen, rustikaler, uriger Kneipencharme.
Freundliche Bedienung, das Essen wurde in ca. 15 Minuten serviert. Wir hatten Schwarzbauer Schnitzel im Erdapfelmantel und Käsespätzle beides mit Salat. Es hat allen gut geschmeckt. Das Schnitzel war besonders originell und lecker.

Sensationelles Essen und sehr freundliche Gastgeber

Auf dem Heimweg von Kroatien wollten wir einen Zwischenstopp einlegen und haben diese kleine Pension entdeckt. Das Essen war wirklich auf hohem Niveau.
Als Vorspeise eine Rindsuppe, Hauptspeise ein Steirisches Schnitzel und als Nachspeise einen Palatschinken. Einfach alles klasse!!! Die Zimmer sind sauber und gemütlich. Die Familie Schwarzbauer versorgt Ihre Gäste einfach super freundlich und wir hatten auch noch einen netten Abend an der Theke. Das Frühstück war auch wirklich sehr reichhaltig und lecker. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Nettes für einen einfachen Abend

Es war eine spontane Entscheidung hier zu essen. Man darf ein einfaches Gasthaus erwarten, wo man noch Karten spielt. Die Wirtin noch selber kocht, wenn's notwendig ist. Die Speisen waren gut, besonders die hausgemachte Leberknödelsuppe.
Alles in allem sehr nette Bedienung.
Einen Besuch auf jeden Fall wert.
