Good location, but once is enough

No service. The (confirmed) baby cot absent. Telephone contact with Value Stay Blankenberge turned out not to be possible via the only telephone number that Value Stay had given us, the exchange 02/899 24 00. It started with stress. And a lot of noise from a (weekly?) party downstairs.

Just horrible

Shabby hotel. The reception serves as a dirty laundry shed, the room is shabby, dirty, the toilet bowl full of scale. Curtains with mushrooms. The manager seems to be a Flemish nationalist who can't stand French speakers. I took 2 days off with my son. We escaped after the first night.

No star at all

Had the pleasure of the family room cost an arm and a leg for a basic hotel. Bathroom handle was flimsy it fell off so we had to use the bathroom at a petrol station as there were no staff to fix the handle. The floor was dirty in the rooms with most of the floor boards chipped. The walls where can I tart had stains and were dirty. I had a message there was disabled parking in front of hotel but man at the bar who claimed to be bar manager said the message did not come from the hotel even though I had been communicating with he hotel via the messanger. He said no disabled parking. There was a rude and silly lady who worked at the bar too who was hissing and throwing her hands up like an idiot when I asked a question she just walked off. I had to park at a distance form the hotel and it cost me 27 Euros for the night. Been to Belgium several times and the people are normally nice and friendly but Blankenberge, would miss it in a heartbeat. The people are not friendly, the Brood Enbanket which is a pastry shop had a server/owner who was equally rude and refused to take any card payments if it was not Belgium card, she said she had no time to explain. Avoid this place at all cost if you are a tourist. In a nutshell Bugges is the place to go but could not find a hotel there cus of the holidays so please avoid Value hotel and Blankenberge as a whole. No star at all.

DISGUSTINGLY DIRTY AND EXPENSIVE

Never seen such a dirty hotel in my whole life!! And I had the pleasure to pay 140 euros for a prison cell withut a reception ("because we care for your health" ha ha ha). Hair in the bath tub and on the floor. I imagine that they did not clean the room "to save the planet". This hotel should NOT be open. AVOID AT ALL COST!!

Package Comparable Price-Wise to Other More Up-Market Hotels

We have visit Blankenberge to participate in the two day walk (IML National walk for Belgium) approximately 10 times and have stayed in campsites and other hotels.
Blankenberge is a holiday destination by the sea, making the area generally more expensive.
International walks are our hobby, we do several per year, therefore try and keep costs within a budget.
We did have problem getting access to the hotel the front door has a code, we therefore had to phone for the code (luckily it was not raining).
The Value Stay is not a new hotel, some would say it's a little dated, but the rooms including bathroom are clean and functional, ours included a free safe (there is a bar, but I didn't see anyone serving or any customers drinking).
We didn't use the TV or WIFI so can't comment, overall, we were quite happy with the room.
We paid €81 per night for a double room without breakfast, and no free car parking (although multi-story close by).
However, if you consider the €10 per person for breakfast it adds another €20 the to cost which is like better more up market hotels like the Liberty where we have stayed before.
Like other hotels breakfast is served early for the walking weekend (I am sure other guests appreciated this).
The hotel is located 3 minutes’ walk to the beach and is very close to the station, which has a multi-story car park at €15 per day.
The rooms are available from 16:00 and checkout before 10:00
We have used this hotel before, then as now without any complaints (then it was considerably cheaper).
However, the price is now comparable to other better hotels we will therefore do the maths consider which to use next year.
