Stay like a local--authentic Bruges, Belgium lodgings and hospitality

The location is quiet, but a short walk to the city center, which allows the beauty of Bruges minus the cruise ship/charter bus crowds. The host Mieke was lovely and very accommodating. She provided sightseeing and dining recommendations. We also took her bike tour, which was a lot of fun. The rooms are comfortable for a couple. She went out of her way to show kindness to our son and provided treats for him at breakfast. Waterside B&B is a casual, personal, European-style bed and breakfast lodging. We very much enjoyed our stay.

UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE

I booked after reading the reviews and wasn't sure what the room and bathroom were like. I was shocked to see that the room was tiny, with no storage space for luggage, and, worse, the toilet wasn't separate from the room but was located near the bed, separated by a low wall. I hadn't seen this from the photos. However, there are some positives: the breakfast is truly excellent, and the location is close to the city center.

Good value and a personal touch!

The room was more inviting than most of the hotel rooms we stayed in while in France. The bathroom is shared but the sink in our room would have made that easier (in our case, no one else was staying in the other room so it was like having a private bathroom). Mieke helped us to get our bearings by circling various things on the city map and providing helpful suggestions about good routes to walk, though the BnB is very conveniently located. Breakfast was yummy and plentiful and she always seemed happy to see me in the morning. Great value and a personal touch!

Felt completely at home!

Had a lovely stay at this delightful B&B - Mieke was so friendly and helpful, giving us lots of info about good places to go. We even went on her Pink Bear cycling tour to Damme, which was a real bonus and made our holiday special!

Excellent

Thank you to the lovely hostess Mieke for a wonderful stay. This charming b&b is in the perfect location in Brugge - nice and quiet it is just a 15 minute walk from the Markt. Brugge is not massive so you can cover a lot of ground by foot. Our stay at Waterside was very comfortable. My friend and I had the twin room, which was spacious with two comfortable beds, towels and a sink. The bathroom was shared but kept very clean at all times. Breakfast was a delight - everything you could want to get your day off to a good start. Fresh fruit - we even had a fig one morning! - cereal, good cup of tea, selection of breads, cheese. Mieke also gave excellent recommendations and if you get a chance go on her bike tour, it was a highlight for us and you won't be disappointed. You get to see some lovely countryside and windmills as well as learn a lot about the history of Brugge. Overall I was thoroughly happy with my stay and thought it was excellent value for money.
