Dishonest behavior. This room should have never been offered to a paying customer
As soon as we arrived, we were directed to a room in an annex accessible by long walking through corridors that lead us outside to a very creepy gallery. Absolutely disgusting. Piles of dirty bedlinen were dumped in the hallway, a grimy microwave sat precariously on top of a filthy, yellowed refrigerator. The entirely building was in a state of shocking disrepair, with paint peeling of the walls everywhere we looked, exposing the deplorable neglect of BASIC MAINTENANCE.
When we opened the door of our room, we were hit with an immediate red flag: ALL the WINDOWS were WIDE OPEN, including the one on the bathroom. The heating was blasted at maximum temperature. There was already a noticeable sewer smell. It was late and foolishly hoping things might improve, we lowered the heating, closed the windows to avoid the cold shaft and left to see the city.
What we returned to that evening was absolutely revolting. The room was saturated with this overpowering , nauseating sewer smell (literately like poop) that made it impossible to sleep. With no staff at reception to help us, we were forced to spend the night in that putrid room. Neither of us slept a single moment.
The next morning we talked to the manager and explained this disgusting and unacceptable situation. He had the audacity to claim they had never experience this before. That is a BIG BIG LIE. They KNEW about this horrific odor THAT IS EXACTLY WHY EVERY SINGLE WINDOW WAS OPEN, including the bathroom window where the stench originated. They deliberately tried to air out that room and then rented it to us (or to whoever). That bedroom was in such a terrible condition that they should have never rented it to anyone, let alone charge for it.
We informed the manager we will not stay for the second night and we asked for a refund for which of course he refused, coldly stating the hotel does not issue refunds.
Only after we pushed back they finally offered us a different room. However, after realizing they had deliberately and dishonestly rented us that uninhabitable room, fully aware of the disgusting condition, we had completely lost trust in this establishment. We decided to leave.
We were scammed, deceived and forced to spent such a horrible night and pay for the full stay. This is completely UNNACEPTABLE.
