Don’t risk it - book something else

Shows the reality of 1 man trying to run a hotel by himself - the standards slowly dropped over the years:
Andy Warhol room
-Forced to pay tourist tax in cash
-Bedsheet set hasn’t been replaced in years, thin and scratchy (ended up having to buy our own set so we could sleep)
-Pillows are disgusting, with the pillowcase not covering the yellow pillow itself
-Little stains everywhere that show only base furniture is cleaned between patrons
-Bathroom grout is pink with bacteria and leaks water through the shower along the floor
-the flight of stairs to get up to rooms has lights off at night, requiring a flashlight
-Owner/someone unsupervised hosted a full scale party late into the night like it’s a hostel and not a hotel (cigarette smell wafting into our room)
Overall it was clearly done with artistic intentions a decade ago, but has since become a barely maintained airbnb - paying hotel prices for maybe 50% of the hotel standard is just not something you want to risk when traveling to a new city, and after being stuck here for 4 nights, I advice you don’t

Never again.

Admittedly, the location is good, if one can get used to a access road to the city center where two buses pass every 2 minutes, along with roaring motorcycles and loud cars, until well after midnight. The parking lot in the courtyard of the annex building is completely dirty, and beware, there is dog poop everywhere. The rooms look very attractive in the pictures, but they are completely filthy. I have never seen such a dirty accommodation. If I were a backpacker in the desert, okay, but not in a city like Ghent.

Filth.

It is a very dirty dive; I can confidently say that the positive reviews I found before making the reservation are false. The owner hung up on us for asking him to refund our money. On top of that, he should give us compensation. The room is located on the third floor where you have to go completely in the dark due to lack of light. Once inside, it would be better for you to see the photos. They haven't cleaned under the sofa in years. Broken walls and doors. Three inches of dust on the headboard, a smell of filth from the bedspread, I don't have enough adjectives for the sofa, and the shower doors are not represented well in the photos. They have gone months without cleaning. Of course, we went to another hotel. It seems that in the end, the owner accepts the cancellation without charges.

Structure to avoid

Terrible experience. Dirty everywhere.
Not recommended. It's a shame because it would be in an excellent location.

Sleepless night in Ghent

Reception was chaotic because of a room exchange where we were fortunately given an "upgrade". Lovely a third floor on a narrow staircase and even more wonderful the sauna under the roof... It was 27 degrees that day.
The room still needed to be cleaned, but we could already leave our suitcases there.
After evening Ghent we arrive in our room: very hot and the only form of refreshment is opening the windows. Unfortunately no mosquito netting so the night's sleep is given up to go mosquito hunting. From the sheer number of black spots on the wall, we're not the first ones here to do this. Then let's get in the shower. Again, it is remarkable that there is more mold in our shower than on an average French brie and ours looks black. Price we paid for this wonderful stay: 105,00 Euro excluding tourist tax.
Oh yes: on the website there is a fridge and microwave in the room... Very well searched but not found.
If you want to feel bought, definitely book this trade!
