Great view - the price-performance ratio is right
We stayed 4 nights at Hotel Horta and booked a room with a sea view.
Our room was on the 5th floor. So, it was at the very top; the view was fantastic - both over the harbor to the sea and of the Pico, which we unfortunately only saw once due to the weather, covered in deep snow.
The room was okay; unfortunately, there was very little space between the bed and the table, making it impossible to pass through when someone was sitting. Otherwise, there are 2 chairs, the floor is smooth instead of carpet, which we prefer. There is also a small refrigerator. A bottle of water was placed in the room daily. The beds were comfortable, and we could sleep well.
The bathroom has a bathtub with a shower curtain for showering. The hairdryer is somewhat outdated. Shower gel is available.
Advantage/Disadvantage of the balcony: it is right at the top and not covered. In the rain, you cannot sit outside, and if the balcony door is left open overnight, you will have a puddle in the room in the morning. The maid gave us an extra floor towel :-) . The advantage is that it is very bright and sunny in the morning.
The breakfast is good except for the coffee. There is cheese from the islands, fruit, muesli, eggs, bacon, various rolls, and cake. Unfortunately, the coffee machines are set very strangely for German standards. No matter whether you press for a latte, cappuccino, or cocoa, it always comes out as a sweet coffee-chocolate mixture.
The hotel accommodates many travel groups, usually for just one night. The noise level during breakfast is enormous because there are many people there at the same time.
If you come back in the evening after the group, it may also be that only lukewarm water is left.
The elevator sounds very strange, so we always took the stairs.
The way to the city is relatively steep, but you can easily get down/up in 10 minutes.
There are plenty of parking spaces available.
Since the hotel is very affordable compared to the 4-star hotels on the other islands, we would recommend it further.

BOF!
As part of a group tour of the Azores, a 3-night stay at this hotel. No water in the room, no safe directly operational, TV poorly connected to satellite, temperamental coffee machine, staff unavailable. At dinner, always the same food! The only positive point: the view of Mount Pico on which the clouds play!

The hotel was very clean but a little dated. It needs to be upgraded and the bed was extremely hard. The breakfast was pretty basic but good. It was good value for what I paid.

Would not stay there again
The highlight is the room with sea view with balcony on the inner garden with swimming pool and on Mount Pico.
Spacious rooms with dated furnishings.
Bathtub with shower WITH NYLON CURTAIN. (You can't see)
Fridge on but empty.
Broken safe.
No kettle.
Banal breakfast.
Great evening buffet.
But the creepiest thing, the cockroaches.
We killed a lot of them.
I wouldn't go back there.

A quiet hotel
Structure a little dated, but comfortable. Large room, spacious bathroom also with bidet; balcony overlooking the ocean. Everything clean. Very kind preliminary. Breakfast varied and plentiful, dinner buffet excellent. Easy location to reach the center, 10 minutes walk
