All the staff on the front desk were extremely friendly and would always say hello in the mornings and evenings.
For a city hotel the room was a very good size. It’s not the biggest but there was plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 suitcases. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were very soft. There was a coffee machine in the room which could also boil hot water for a cup of tea. Coffee pods and tea bags were provided, but not always restocked daily. The rooms are very boutique and the decor is fitting for the area of Lisbon. All rooms have keys which they ask to be handed in when you leave the hotel. The hotel also offer a phone with 4G to navigate around the city.
The bathroom was a very good side and included some very nice amenities.
The location of the hotel is perfect for central Lisbon. It is a short walk to 2 metro stations and there are trams and buses running regularly from the main city square.
We didn’t eat in the restaurant but there are a lot of nice restaurants in the local area.

Our Home Away from Home
a) A fantastic and exceptionally welcoming staff ; they made our time there feel special; they took time to remember our names and greeted us almost everyday using our names. Also, as part of hotel policy, they bestowed numerous small gifts including welcoming us with a small bottle of port and some delicious pastries ( pasteis de nata). The day/night before we checked out they have us lovely bars of soap.
b) The hotel's great location; although very near popular and busy spots in the Baixa/Chaido neighborhood area, the hotel is situated in the relatively calmer spacious city square where Lisbon City Hall is located;
c) The hotel provides a generous and delicious breakfast that is included in the cost of the room. You can order eggs of any kind and they are -prepared to one's requested liking. One of the breakfast waitstaff working there- Caio- was exceptional in his level of friendliness, service, and genuineness; and
c) Rooms were kept very clean

We arrived at the hotel via the train from Faro, and metro into the Baixa-Chiado station. We made the mistake of leaving the station at the top of the hill and had to walk down to get to the hotel. Luckily I found the metro entrance on Rue de Crucifixo which was much closer, making it easier to get to other areas of Lisbon.
AlmaLusa is conveniently situated close to the waterfront, only 3 blocks away. And within 10 minute walk, or metro stop, from Rossio Square. The property is very nice, with polite and helpful staff. And the flavored ice water in the reception area was appreciated since it was hot during our stay. We received a free room upgrade which was extremely nice. Our suite was on the 1st floor and had an "English manor" feel with carpet, dark wood trim and a big brick fireplace in which the tv was located. We also received a complementary bottle of champagne, which is always a nice touch.
We did not use many of the amenities since we were trying to get last minute Lisbon errands done in our two days. But we did dine at the adjacent restaurant (Delfina), enjoying a nice meal in their outdoor patio.
Overall, staying at AlmaLusa Baixa & Chiado hotel was a pleasant way to end our two weeks in Portugal.

This hotel is the real deal - perfection!
