CHALET SAUDADE SINTRA
In the midst of beautiful Sintra sits Chalet Saudade, a gem in this magical town, located centrally but away from the tourist areas. It was extensively renovated and offers modern and convenient accomodation for single travellers, couples, friends and families. There are stairs and many levels, so if you have mobility issues it is something to keep in mind. It offers a variety of 15 rooms and suites and usually books well in advance. My suite was on the lower room with access to the lovely back garden, surrounded by nature which made it very peaceful and quiet. It was a wonderful base for travels in and around Sintra and the west coast. Excellent customer service and attentiveness. Café Saudade is located about 50m away and has excellent yummy offerings. Saudade is a very special place.

Absolutely perfection!
Book it! Absolutely beautiful place to stay and an easy 10 to 15 minute walk in to Sintra centre. We stayed in one of the 2 superior suites and my word, how beautiful it was. Our suite had a huge balcony with amazing far reaching views. The staff couldn't do enough us i would highly recommend a stay here!!

Historic Charm, Incredible Staff, and the best Breakfast in Sintra. An unforgettable experience!!!
If you are planning a trip to Sintra and wondering where to stay, stop searching and book Chalet Saudade immediately. This property is truly one of the highlights of our entire Portugal trip.
From the moment we arrived for our 7-night stay, we were welcomed by Caterina and Filipa with genuine warmth and hospitality that instantly made us feel at home. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional, offering fantastic local recommendations, helping with reservations, and making sure we had everything we needed to fully enjoy Sintra. While the entire staff was wonderful, Caterina especially made a lasting impression with her kindness and attentiveness.
Our room was beautiful, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. The bed provided some of the best sleep we’ve had while traveling, and the air conditioning worked perfectly after long days of sightseeing. One of the most magical parts of the property is the stunning garden area. We spent several evenings relaxing there with a glass of wine, surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere and historic charm of the chalet. It also became a great place to meet fellow travelers and exchange recommendations and stories from our adventures.
The location could not be better. Chalet Saudade is centrally located within easy walking distance of Sintra’s attractions, train station, and several outstanding restaurants. Everything you need is just a short 5–10 minute walk away.
And then there’s Café Saudade — absolutely incredible. Do not skip the breakfast. Calling it a “continental breakfast” does not do it justice. The portions are generous, the food is fresh and delicious, and the coffee selections were the perfect start to every day. My wife and I actually had to ask them to scale it back because there was so much food. It quickly became one of our favorite breakfast experiences anywhere.
What truly sets Chalet Saudade apart is the feeling you get staying there. It’s more than a hotel it feels like a welcoming home base for exploring the magic of Sintra. The combination of historic charm, perfect location, beautiful grounds, amazing food, and exceptional staff makes this a place we will recommend to everyone.

When we checked in, we got tips for all the places we wanted to go and the best way to see everything we had on our list. It was perfect. The staff we all extremely friendly and the included breakfast each morning was delicious . We would stay there again and definitely recommend to others! Great charm too!

Hotel was centrally located to train station. Beautifully restored however the beds were not very comfortable. The staff were amazing but this hotel was so noisy from early morning until 10pm. The walls and ceiling were so thin so unless your a 7am riser i would not stay here again simply for this reason.
