What matters about Matterhorn: kind people & cosy

George is a kind gentleman, and his daughter - who speaks very good English - is also a lovely understanding person.
Razlog's not the most exciting place, but there are some pinewoods to wander through, great views of the mountains. The park and fountain area by Cafe Box is picturesque, twenty minutes walk. Train station also walkable: great wee narrow gauge railroad - one stop to Bansko in one direction, and a charming four-and-a-half hours to Septemvri threading between the Rila & Rodopi in other direction. Hadn't planned to stop here, were it not to meet a friend who's volunteering there. Bansko's got bags more character.
WiFi slow, but functioned sufficiently for my basic needs.
But importantly, Matterhorn is a peaceful comfortable base. George cooks breakfast for you too, in with the excellent value price. Facilities & company & atmosphere are absent in these harsh times, but I can't fault the hospitality. Mnogo blagodarya.

A warm welcome, a helpful service and a quiet hotel!

The hotel is located up a quiet street off the centre (which, however, lies a 5 minute walk away). There is a well-stocked supermarket right in the centre, while the bus station, a bit farther on (allow 15 minutes to / from the hotel), is not that far either. Rooms are clean and I liked the the simple, pine furniture. The owner was very helpful with accommodating my needs, including a 6 AM breakfast and a transfer to the trailhead for my climb. They have a restaurant that caters to travelers with previous notice.

Foundie pra não se esquecer

Fica no sótão de um empório. Você pode escolher o vinho no empório e eles levam pra você. Tem uma senhora tocando piano que já vale a visita. Pedimos uma sequência: o de carne vem filé, lombo de porco e peito de frango acompanhados de 10 geléias. O de queijo é o melhor que já comi. E o de chocolate também é muito bom. O custo em fevereiro de 2017 era de 95 reais por pessoa. Pode ter certeza que vale.
