Dangerous.
It started badly as soon as we disembarked the coach, we had a choice of three entrance gates 2 of which were chained off, the one unlocked had steps. Once through the gate we were greeted by deep crazy paving which shredded 2 of my suitcase wheels.
The rooms were dated but quite tidy until a visit to the bathroom, the toilet was very low and the bath with overhead shower was very high. We were told that anti slip bath mats were available from reception however hydraulic hoists were not supplied to get you in or out. It was dangerous climbing in or out due to height and a glass screen with limited movement.
The pool area had this stupid crazy paving with gaps and ridges which at best trip hazards which amazed us that we never saw anyone fall but numerous people stumble.
Food was overall not bad apart from the bacon at breakfast which was inedible, the drinks however were a different story. The Drinks depended entirely the whims of the bar staff, If you wanted beer, no problem, spirit and mixers , another story. My first attempt at ordering a white rum and diet coke and a vodka and diet coke resulted in 2 malibu and coke and this sort of thing continued throughout our stay.
My last major gripe is smoking. I am an ex smoker and appreciate that "need" to smoke, been there, but this day and age should there not be designated smoking areas?. It was impossible to sit outside the bar without people sitting on the next table and lighting up and there were many heavy smokers staying.
I did not enjoy writing this review but I implore management and owners of Helena Park to pull their fingers out they have a potentially great hotel in a great location.

We are sorry to learn that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your personal expectations. While many guests appreciate the hotel's architecture, facilities, and surroundings, we understand that individual preferences and experiences may vary. There are plenty of pictures on different websites, where each potential guests can take a look. There is information, that the showers are over bathtubs and if you need a room without bathtub, usually it is a good idea if you contact the hotel.
We appreciate your comments regarding the room features, outdoor areas, beverage service, and smoking policy, and we will take them into consideration. At the same time, we are pleased that you found the food generally enjoyable and recognized our excellent location.

Great hotel
Beach right on your door step with a fabulous beach bar.
Rooms were very clean. The beds are a little uncomfortable we requested mattress toppers which we received and made a massive difference.
Cleaning staff are very friendly and do a great job.
The food was 10 out of 10 so fresh great choice every night the waiting staff are very attentive .
The entertainment team are very friendly and fun. You can see how hard they work to keep everyone entertain everyone.
I would have liked to see a few different activities throughout the day and not the same.
Great place for people who want to travel on their own as there was many solo travellers who were on their 3rd or 4th visit to the hotel.
