*ALERT* If after you read this and you still decide to reserve a room here, then whomever you are traveling with should ban you from ever making lodging decisions in the future, forever. I live in Cambodia and I have never been scared to stay at a hotel until I can across Botom (NOT A PALACE) hotel. After searching for 20 minutes we found the smallest little sign above a dark alley that you would be crazy to go down in any city (see pictures). After seeing the outside of the hotel and after entering the lobby, we immediately made reservations somewhere else. If the highly photoshopped pictures that the hotel uses is any indication, then I now doubt the authenticity of many of the reviews. No one in their right mind would stay here let alone give it great reviews without mentioning the creepy deep dark alley or the lack of signage .

A Clean and Quiet Backup Option in Phnom Penh

My favorite hotel in Phnom Penh was fully booked this time, so I chose this hotel as a replacement. Well, what can I say? The way to the hotel is not very inviting, but the hotel itself is very clean and offered at a very reasonable price. It is absolutely quiet, the room is large, cozy, and very bright. Overall, it is suitable as a backup or emergency option if your first choice is unavailable.

I would have given this property 5 stars, but housekeeping entered my room unexpectedly thereby startling me. I did not have a sign outside of my door asking for cleaning service and therefore my privacy should not have been interrupted. When I brought this to the attention of the hotel manager, he apologized and said she knocked a few times. However, her service was not requested so why did she decide to enter? Nevertheless, the views and comforts are there despite an endless trail of ants. The front desk staff are welcoming and the neighborhood is filled with restaurants and shopping.
