Great hotel

Great hotel for the price. I agree with some other reviewers that the rooms are in need of a remodel but they are a good size and very clean. We were more than happy and the hotel met our needs as somewhere to stay for a few nights before our wedding. I also accidentally booked the wrong dates and the helpful front desk sorted it out for me. We then moved to the Fairmont Macdonald for our wedding. The staff were not as friendly there as at the Sandman. Bang for buck I’d definitely stay at the Sandman again rather than the Fairmont Macdonald.

Significant Decay equivalent to a low cost roadside motel not a major downtime venue!

Very disappointed with our overnight stay in room 615 at this downtown hotel to find such a poor condition room more so the response from reception and a failure to respond to email complaint to alleged General Manager but we were as it were 'trapped' in this venue by our pre booking. One of five bookings on this trip booked with Sandman hotels and by a significant amount the worst venue with them and in our entire holiday. Excuse was the hotel is 'undergoing some renovations' by reception team (no offer to check!) but what we encountered was very troubling and a situation many months/years in the making! We encountered decayed furniture in all elements other than beds, badly cracked washbasin, leaking taps when turned on which had to run constantly as basin plug not retaining water, shower not very good, window in advanced decay both dirty and failed double glazing obstructing view, no net curtain - direct vision from offices outside, similar glazing failure incidentally in lift lobby 6th floor. Then to cap it all found a Pizza advertising flyer lodged in the door in the morning suggesting the security of hotel is poor for someone to gain access to lodge this flyer in all rooms - very worrying in a downtown allegedly upscale venue!!!! (room access card needed to use lit!)Heartily recommend anyone offered this hotel to be aware all is not as it should be and unlikely to get a reasonable response from staff or management. Very Very Unusual in our experience in Canada over many trips and over the years.

Pretty clean indoors but addict tweakers right outside main doors doing their thing.
$30 night for on-site prkng, staff failed to mention mall prkng only $10 night right across street.
Also failed to mention all the extra resort/eco and other fees + taxes. So instead of $330 for 2 nights got charged $450 SURPRISE !!!

Our room was not clean when we arrived. Went to front desk they sent up a cleaner and when we returned it still had old hair ties and dirt on bathroom floor.
Room was very dated and dirty and we couldn’t see out the window due to window damage and condensation build up. The hotel was not sold out as we checked multiple sites that still had rooms available and called in through friends phone but hotel said they were so the advertised room upgrades could not be handed out. This hotel use to be good but now they take the convenience for granted and treat visitors horribly. For the amount of stays we stay in a year it is disappointing to get this service.

I find it frustrating and disappointing there are rooms available on line for the hotel but both nights and all 3 reservations had no upgrades available. Sandman shouldn’t advertise upgrades when available if they refuse to ever give them. Also to walk in and have a dirty bathroom is unacceptable.
