Severn Lodge

Located in Georgian Bay, Severn Lodge is in a rural area and on a private beach. Oak Bay Golf Club and Wawautosa Trading Post Marina are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Lake Huron and Six Mile Lake Provincial Park. While you're here, you can enjoy all the comforts of home and more, including a fenced pool and a lifeguard on site, as well as free WiFi and an outdoor entertainment area. Other amenities include laundry facilities, towels, a mini-fridge, and a picnic area. This property is closed from September 14 2026 to September 20 2026 (dates subject to change).

Daily Rate

Severn Lodge is a wonderful family friendly resort except for one thing.  Early arrivals beware.  SL has introduced a new daily rate policy which is obscenely expensive.  My guests, a family of 5, with pre-paid reservations for meals and accommodations for 2 nights, arrived at the resort at 1pm.  The front desk wanted to charge them $150 to stay on the property until check-in at 4.  So after a 3 hour drive to get there they got back in their car to find some greenery where they could enjoy their picnic lunch and stayed off the property until check-in.   I've contacted both the President and GM to express my concerns with this unusual practice but haven't heard a peep from either of them.

Staff treated badly

They treat their staff very very badly, the staff work so hard and try and make the guests experience really great. But the management, do not appreciate them and dispose of them for no reason. The place should be boycotted.

Thanksgiving weekend family retreat.

We stayed for the first time at Severn Lodge over Thanksgiving weekend 2025 for a gathering of 10 extended family members. The setting is awesome and the weekend's meals and activities were great. We understand that the lodge has undergone a change of ownership and management, which resulted in service and facilities maintenance being uneven. We were willing to give that a pass, as the staff was trying hard to provide great service and the resort has so much potential! It is clear that the new owners have invested in the property, and have plans to continue doing so. Once the operational kinks are worked out, this will be the perfect, small, traditional, old-style Muskoka lake resort. We can't wait to come back to check out the progress!

A Fabulous Family Thanksgiving Weekend!

We are regular Severn guests and have stayed at Severn Lodge for a week in July, the past 4 years. Our reason for returning to Severn over the past 4 years with our granddaughters, was primarily for the Kids program, service and food. The first 3 years at Severn were outstanding however our July 2025 week was a disappointment (as outlined in my August 2025 review titled "Adult or Family Focused Resort?").
Prior to our July 2025 week at Severn we had also booked Thanksgiving weekend at Severn for 10 family members. Based on our July experience we were somewhat apprehensive about the weekend especially with 6 of our family members visiting Severn for the first time
We were completely "blown away" with the level of service, food, staff interaction and weekend programs. Truly outstanding!!! A major positive change from our July experience. Improvement details are outlined below:
1) Service -We were greeted with warm and friendly staff who truly made us feel that we were special. Other guests we spoke with felt the same. No request was too much and was acted on immediately. In addition the General Manager Katrin was readily available and circulated amongst guests asking for their thoughts. (Great improvement from the previous Manager)
2) Food -The Chef and kitchen staff "knocked it out of the park" with the quality and variety of food. Special recognition for the Thanksgiving Buffet on Sunday night, one of the best buffets we have seen. The quality of the food and variety including turkey, prime rib, lamb, shrimp and the many other offerings were delicious. well prepared and fabulously presented. A big thank you
3) Activities -The weekend activities including scavenger hunt, magician, musician, pumpkin carving, fishing etc. were well attended with guests being encourage to participate
We are so looking forward to once again spending our July week at Severn and are very excited that the concerns we addressed in July have been addressed and then some.
Keep up the great work! Congratulations to the management and staff for a job well done.

Beautiful Property, but a Frustrating Wedding Planning Experience

Severn Lodge is set on a stunning property, and the staff we met in person were kind and welcoming. Unfortunately, our experience trying to plan a wedding here was very disappointing. Communication was extremely difficult—we found ourselves speaking with three different people at different times, often waiting weeks or even months for replies. Despite calling numerous times and even visiting in person to try and reach the wedding coordinator, we could not get clear or timely responses. Promises were made but never followed up on, and at one point we were even given the wrong budget, which created more confusion.
In the end, we decided not to use Severn Lodge as our venue, even though it was truly where we wanted to have our wedding. The property is beautiful, but the lack of organization and reliability throughout the planning process made it far too stressful and disappointing.
