Great fishing spot
Was looking to do some lake fishing and heard about this place. Easy 45 minute drive from Pereira. Lots of fish and places to fish. In a couple of hours caught 5 total, 4 different species. They weigh your catch when you are done and charge a small fee. They also sell bait there. The grounds were beautiful but only enjoyed the lake, did not use the pool or restaurant.

Totally disappointing: an unhealthy and unprofessional hotel
Our experience at Hotel Danube was abysmal and totally disappointing. We travelled with the whole family to spend New Year and from the first moment everything was a disaster.
When we arrived, we were assigned a room that does not correspond at all with what they promote on the websites of where it is part of groups of Carthage/Eje Cafetero, in Booking and social networks: a room without windows or ventilation, with strong smell of mold and clearly unsanitary conditions. In expressing our dissatisfaction, the receptionist refused to give us the number of the owner, administrator or manager, and both she and the rest of the staff (virtually the same 4 people for all areas) had a rude, high-handed and unprofessional attitude.
After insisting, they changed our room, but the third was even worse: it had not been cleaned, it was dirty and full of cockroaches and ants inside the room. During the 5 days of their stay they never performed toileting, despite repeatedly requesting it. We even had to order the cleaning elements, sheets and towels and do everything ourselves, when we were there to rest. When they arrived, they also never left towels, never took them, and in multiple calls to the reception no one answered; of course, to collect they were always available.
In addition, one of the assigned rooms had no insurance and no possibility of locking, which posed a serious risk to the safety of our personal and valuables, something totally unacceptable for a hotel.
The lack of maintenance is evident: one of the TVs had no remote control (we were told that “you had to turn it on by hand”) and the other turned off only every 5 minutes. There is no fumigation; we understand that it is a country place, but the presence of cockroaches inside the rooms is unacceptable. The football courts had grass so grown that it was never possible to use them.
The kitchen area is another critical point. The staff have no training in food handling: they don’t wear hair mesh, gloves or face coverings, and most seriously they are the same people who clean the bathrooms (not ours). On several occasions they said they had no inputs to prepare breakfast, forcing us to wait up to an hour. Commandos write them down and then throw them away, so breakfasts do not arrive on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, every day they offer exactly the same breakfast, with only one egg option and no variety.
The staff’s constant response to any claim was that it “gets out of hand” and that “they can do absolutely nothing.” Most staff showed zero commitment, poor attitude, lack of basic education and even use of rudeness in front of guests.
We wish to place on record that this is misleading advertising. They don’t offer what they promise, they didn’t make any partial refunds and the situation got to such an extent that we had to call the police to be able to make the claim.
In conclusion: an unsanitary place, poorly managed, with terrible attention, total lack of professionalism and zero respect for the guest. We do not recommend it under any circumstances, especially for families.

Cold water, loud music, bad food, poor wifi signal
we stayed there for 1 night only (thank God). no warm water to shower, not all the options on the menu available. i ordered churrasco and they gave me a piece of fried pork (completely something else). other guests were hanging out at the pool side with full volume singing karaoke until late night.

Surprisingly nice, worth a try
This was my first time in the hotel, and we booked an entire Cabaña. I was very impressed, the bathroom was beautiful, comfy beds, very specious, and most important of all, A/C You can request to have your breakfast deliver at the Cabaña, and enjoy your morning coffee under the tree.
The amenities are good, the pool closes late, and the fishing lake is surrounded by shade which is nice. But you do have to get there early to get a kiosk as this lake is also open to the public and it gets pretty crowded.
The pool is also open to the public so it could get crowded as well but since I didn't go for the pool I didn't mind that.
On a negative note, the bathrooms in fishing area disgusting. No toilet paper, no soap, so be prepared! I heard the place was improving after the new management took over. I sure hope so because I am already planing a future visit next time I'm in the area
