Nice and friendly staff
This hostal is in a good location..the rooms are simple but good enough ( not luxurious ) and the staff are really friendly
The only point is , if you want hot water , make sure you have it in the room...talk to reception if you dont

Nice rooms, friendly staff
The hotel is located near the main plaza in San Gil. There are many restaurants within a 10-minute walk. Most of the rooms are small but clean, well kept and have fans. They use electric shower heads but the water temperature was fine. I found the fan sufficient and it does cool down at night. The front rooms are best. They serve a small coffee and crackers in the morning. There's a great breakfast place a few doors down. Try the French toast. I found the staff friendly, helpful and honest. I left my Kindle in the room and they brought it to me. They do not speak English, but our Spanish was good enough. We were there at Easter, but with the normal prices, this place is a great value.

Very good location and close to the Plaza and restaurants
It's a great location in that it's close to the plaza and to the restaurants. It is very clean and functional. The rooms are quite small and most do not have a window to the outside. There isn't any AC so be prepared for a hot room. They do have a fan pointed directly at the bed which helps for sleeping.
We paid $110,000 COP per night, which was very good considering it was Easter Weekend and very busy.
They did give us a tinto coffee (basically, a cup from a barbie set) and some juice in the morning and 2 soda crackers.
No one speaks a word of English so be prepared for that.
We really enjoyed San Hill, especially the Plaza. Oh, and we really liked Gringo Mikes.

Good price and great location
I stayed at Hostal Isla Senorial for three nights in early-January 2017 and had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is very centrally located just three blocks up from the river and about three blocks from the main plaza. It's walking distance to everything in town, but--thankfully--not too far up the hill to be hard to walk to. It's a very hilly town, so the closer down the hill to the river you can get in terms of accommodation, the better. I stayed in one of the front rooms on the 2nd floor with a small balcony over the street and really enjoyed being able to open up the door every night and let the cool, fresh air in. As a light sleeper, I was kind of surprised that there really wasn't any street noise to speak of--especially given that my room was right over the street. Having a table fan in the room was great for white noise and the water in the shower was consistently warm. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and friendly and readily answered my questions and made suggestions about things to do--even helping me get my day trip to Chicamocha National Park organized. One downside was that the Wi-Fi strength in my room was pretty weak and inconsistent, so I had to spend time on the sofas in the hallway to get good reception. The other downside is that breakfast is not included. But there are several very inexpensive and good breakfast spots within two blocks, so it was convenient getting it on my own. San Gil is a wonderful place and I really wish I had spend at least two more days here -- there's THAT much to do! And, I would definitely stay here again if I ever find myself in San Gil again.

Good for the price
Located in the center of San gil, this hotel is OK for the price (75 000 cop for a double room). It is comfortable, the rooms are a little small and dark but quiet and clean. Don't except too much for the price it is a good bargain
