The place is very clean and safe. The complementary breakfast is a plus. The owners Olga & Oscar are an asset tho this beatiful and cozy place . I stayed 1 week and They made me feel at home. I will return very soon and definitely will stay there. They have accomodationss for familes, couples. On the top terrace there is an amazing view of the bay.

Pelikan: the palace of hostility and stinginess

The deal was hostile. They placed me on the third floor, the stairs are uncomfortable and if I left the air conditioning on they would come into my room to turn it off, even if I was inside. They don't respect privacy. On one occasion, when I was on my way out, I forgot to turn off the air conditioning and the owner demanded to return me to pay for it, if I was 30 I would have done it, but I am 50 and suffer from osteoarthritis. The sink and shower were covered, the water was coming out of the sink and the room was flooding. Do not roast the rooms, do not change sheets or towels. They are very stingy, unhelpful and unkind. I felt like I paid a favor and not a service. They also charge as a hotel and are called a hostel. There are people, like the owners of the Pelikan, who do not know how to serve and, to have this type of business, service is paramount.

Not a hostal

Someplace down the road about 10 years ago many places in Colombia made a change from Hotel to hostal thinking more people would book their place. This little hotel is absolutely great. It offers a nice accommodation with a very convenient location. 2 minute walk to the beach, bus stops right outside, atm’s within a minute walk, and couple little stores to grab a local drink or snack. Rooms are big though do note that you need to specify for ac. My guess some don’t have ac since I was asked the lastime I was there. There is a nice but simple breakfast in the morning which is extra or you can chose to walk by the beach for more options.
Those looking to dive this would be a great spot since most of the dive shops are just a minute away. I dove with Oceano and had a couple really good dives with them.

Amazing hostel, perfect location, excellent staff!

I stayed in Pelican Hostel this past March, and it was a wonderful place to stay in Taganga. It is right next to the police station, so very safe. It’s 2 doors down from the best scuba center in the area (maybe the world), Oceano Scuba. It has a lovely terrace with a great view, a hammock, and a common kitchen and hangout area. The staff are very helpful and kind. Jenny and Oscar were absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend this hostel—it’s fantastic! -Hannah

Great price / quality

We stayed only one night and regretted not staying more. This place offers hotel quality for low prices, has a kitchen, cheap beers, hanging area with hammocks, a terrace and a great location (just in front of the bus stop). The ladies at the reception were both lovely. The only thing that may be lacking is social atmosphere but if you're looking for a quiet place don't hesitate and book it!
