Amazing Family Vacation
This was one of the most amazing resorts I’ve had the pleasure of visiting! We were there 7 days and it was like a slice of heaven. The workers put in extra effort to make sure you feel valued and special. Alphonso is the only name I remember and immediately addressed the one issue we had. The food was fantastic! My son celebrated his 23rd birthday there and seemingly, found his future wife . Everything was so perfect, we booked to come back next month for my birthday. We will be staying at the JOIA this time. 5 Star everything at IBEROSTAR Selection Coral.

The DR owes us NOTHING❣️❣️❣️
Our group of 13 arrived at the resort on July 17th. From the moment our feet touched the ground at this incredible place, until we said our final goodbyes we were LOVED!
Ramos was our first point of contact. He welcomed us and escorted us to a place to wait in the shade while our luggage was being unloaded by the airport transport driver.. The main lobby was beautiful with its serene island colors and copper accents; visually, it was simply stunning! We were very warmly greeted by the other resort staff in the main lobby and were pleased to have cold fruit infused water at the ready. 3 separate golf carts were waiting for us within 5 minutes to take us to the ‘Inner Sanctum’ (my term for check-in).
Francé (I may not have the correct spelling of his name, and if I don’t, please forgive me), was My Husband’s and my transport there (and he continued to be our transport at various times throughout our stay). Before we entered check-in, we were offered cool cloths and water and invited to sit down while everything was being finalized. Alphonso enthusiastically welcomed us and proceeded to get each room assignment and keys for each of our 5 families. From there Francé drove us to our room, carried all of our luggage upstairs in one trip (!!) and wished us a great stay…
And it was! EVERYONE we came in contact with was exceptional! From Faro restaurant and bar staff (Kelvin, Ismeal, Frances, Dioris, Yomairy, Julia, Emelio, Akeny (Justin Beeber ) and Ramirez to Seferino (our exuberant Main Lobby amigo), Said and John (Assistant General Managers)! There was no opportunity missed to have lively conversation and lots of laughs with these folks! We always looked forward to seeing them and we always felt the same coming from them.
Our housekeeper, Marhta, was so kind, warm and extremely accommodating. We had a minor issue in our room upon check in and she immediately resolved it!
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Frantz, the young man my Husband and I saw our second morning on our way to the beach. We greeted him as he was harvesting coconuts from one of the many trees on the resort. He offered us each one that he skillfully hacked open and shaved so that we had the perfect drinking vessel to enjoy the thirst quenching nectar. Each day after when he saw us, he’d tell us what time he’d be at our room and was there with two coconuts…THIS is just one example of the level of care we received daily during our stay.
To say this resort is EXPERTLY well run is an understatement. The level of organization is unmatched. When one meal was over, like clockwork the entire staff falls into position to breakdown everything that’s been displayed to make room for what’s to come. To see how efficiently everyone works is like watching a masterful concerto…it’s THAT divine.
As much and as hard as they work, we NEVER felt that anyone was nothing more than honored to serve us, and because of this, we tipped extremely well and made great connections.
This resort owes us NOTHING! It gave us everything we were hoping to receive during our vacation and more! In closing, I’d like to give a shoutout to one of the security personnel. I never asked his name and I sincerely wish I had. He stood proudly just to the left of the road leading from the Main Lobby to the resort grounds. We saw him our second morning during our walk. We waved and as he walked towards us to greet us he had the most INCREDIBLE smile… Nuestro amigo con la hermosa sonrisa…he has blue/green braces and could very easily be a spokes person for an Orthodontist. Should you see him, tell him his American friends say ¡Hola!❣️

Romantic vacation
We stayed in this hotel for 15 days in room 2404.
From June 8 to June 24
The positive points we noted:
- The very pleasant check-in; you are welcomed with a refreshing drink and small pralines.
- The room is very large and cooled when you arrive.
- The Coral restaurant is delicious; there is always fresh fruit and flavored water available, and the food is of high quality.
- The tranquility of the Coral seaside pool, but unfortunately only for the first week, see negative point.
-The ability to order drinks from your lounge chair.
(Thank you very much to Garvin, our pool server, for his extreme kindness)
-The Coral entertainment team. Thank you very much to El Nino for his good humor; despite the language barrier, he came to greet us every day.
-The Coral restaurant servers. Thank you very much for your extreme kindness.

-The great work of our housekeeper Deisy, who really impressed us with her great kindness; even when she saw us from afar, she would greet us.
-The magnificent Bavaro beach, which despite the sargassum season, the beach was always clean; they picked them up several times a day with tractors⛱️
-The cleanliness of the poolside as well as the beach compared to the selection where it was cups everywhere.
-The refreshing drinks distributed by the pool.
Negative Point:
-The children at the Coral pool who arrived during our 2nd week, where it was really a mess, no more peace and quiet, but the water activities were complicated; we participated in the aquabike, the kids were getting on the bikes and jumping into the water right in front of us.
We had to go to the beach to have some peace.
The Coral section should not be a family area; the pool is much too small to accommodate all these children who disturb the peace of vacationers who want to be left alone.
We will no longer choose periods close to school holidays.
-The evening entertainment is really not great; we really did not enjoy it.
-There are no QR codes at the tables in the evening so that we can have the drink menu.
-The impossibility of being dropped off outside the complex because we had booked an excursion and our driver told us that in general they do not let them enter the complex, so we had to meet them at the entrance to the complex, but given the distance on foot, it was too far.
So the day before, we went to the Coral reception to ask them if they could book a shuttle for us for the next morning at 6 a.m. to take us to the entrance of the complex at security; they answered us no problem, but I have to call the next morning from my room, but for us it is too complicated, we speak very poor English and no Spanish at all.
So the next morning we went directly to the Coral reception to ask directly for a shuttle to get out; we had to wait 10 minutes for them to finally drop us off in front of the Bavaro reception; for that, we could have walked.
We explained to the driver that we had an excursion planned and that they do not let the driver in.
At first he explained to us that he wasn't allowed to, but after 5 minutes of discussion and a tip, he agreed to drop us off, not in front of the hotel's exterior security area, but at door D where we were supposed to meet our driver, which is the staff entrance. We felt very uncomfortable and embarrassed in front of the other tourists on the bus when they saw us having to meet there, while no one else had any trouble getting out of their complex (what a great image for the hotel, dropping off tourists in front of the staff entrance.)
- Problem with room service orders. The customer service chat contacted me to see if we needed anything. I asked them if it was possible to have more of the dark chocolate that had been provided in our room.
They replied no problem, they would send someone to drop some off for me.
In the evening we returned from the pool, big surprise, no chocolate.
The next morning I followed up with them, it was "sorry, sorry," same speech as the day before, they would send someone to drop some off for me.
In the evening, same thing, still no chocolate. At that point I wondered if they were making fun of us.
The next morning was unfortunately the day of our departure. I sent another message to express my dissatisfaction because I was looking forward to being able to enjoy some chocolate when returning from the beach.
Apart from "sorry," they weren't able to give us a reason.
Then I asked them if they could send us a shuttle to get to the front desk to check out and put our luggage in a secure area until our departure in the evening.
No, you have to dial 1 and ask for the shuttle.
That didn't really work for me, but oh well, I tried to manage with my very basic English. I got through to the front desk, no luck, they didn't speak French, so I asked for the shuttle for checkout in English. He asked me if I needed it right away, we answered yes. I understood that he was sending someone, so we waited outside with our luggage. 5-10-15 minutes went by, no one, so we managed on our own. We pushed our suitcases to the front desk in the heat. Surprise, there were 5 people just twiddling their thumbs, but no one was concerned that we had to come on foot and that they never sent us a shuttle.
Unfortunately, with the language barrier, we didn't say anything.
We left our suitcases and enjoyed our last moments to take advantage of the beach, but big surprise when we wanted to order food with the app because they had canceled our access, we had to carry our bags inside to look for food, a disgrace
Picking up our suitcases was super simple, we took them, no one paid attention to us, and we went out to take a shuttle to get to the Bavaro to take our taxi, but we could have taken any suitcase without any problem
We waited in front of the Coral reception with our suitcases for several minutes without anyone coming to offer to drop us off in front of the Bavaro. We had to go inside to ask if we could have a shuttle. We received a very poor welcome there; they asked us coldly if we had checked out properly, and they had to check with our room number, no smile, very icy. The bellhop arrived, same thing, "Did you check out?" even though they had just checked.
We were left with a very bad impression of the Coral reception, even though we were welcomed very well upon our arrival.
Despite all these mishaps, we had a wonderful vacation. Thank you very much to all the staff for their great work, as well as to the people who work in the background and who are just as essential
Despite this mishap, I am giving it 4 stars thanks to our great servers and the quality of the buffet.
All these mishaps unfortunately lowered my final rating, a shame because we had been won over.

10 out of 10 vacation!!!
This is our second time at the hotel and I am still delighted by the excellent treatment from all the staff. Everyone, from the moment we check in, through the staff with the carts, waitresses or waiters, all the staff at the bars or restaurants, Milena, the girl who kept our room, was a 10!! Everyone, the Coral has excellent staff!!! Special mention to my great friend Fresa and all the entertainment staff

Excellent resort unless you have young kids
We stayed at the Coral and for the most part it was excellent. The food, service, pools and beach area were far superior to the other levels. We really liked that the area was quiet, uncrowded, and very clean. The entertainment was very poor so we chose to do our own things. We really struggled on the days that it rained because there was no place to really go and there was nothing to do. (We stayed at the room and read a book. Fine for an adult but not with kids). It really got a bit boring.
If you have young kids there isn't much for them to do. They do have an excellent splash area that the kids loved and the pools were nice to spend time in but it doesn't go beyond that. The entertainment and activities for the kids was seriously lacking and poor quality. They said they could use the Star camp but we were looking for areas where we as a family could do things together and not just drop the kids off for "babysitting". Having a large outdoor playground (not associated with the water) would make the resort kid friendly. A place where the kids could climb, swing, and slide would be fantastic!!!! A playground would give the kids a place to go where they could play and get energy out for days. For us, I found that NOT having a FAMILY PLAYGROUND WAS A MAJOR DOWNFALL of the resort, if you have kids.
I would definitely go back to vacation there but would consider another resort if you had young kids.
